SOLUTION: The polymer immobilized platinum catalyst is constituted by supporting platinum on a crosslinked polymer obtained by crosslinking the crosslinkable polymer having an aromatic side chain and a hydrophilic side chain. This polymer immobilized platinum catalyst is preferably formed, for example, by supporting ultrafine particles of platinum on the crosslinkable polymer in a solution containing a polar solvent to form a micelle and subsequently subjecting the crosslinkable polymer to crosslinking reaction.
