Abstract:
In some embodiments a connector is to couple a peripheral, and a detector coupled to the connector is to detect if the peripheral is disconnected from the connector in response to a first reserved pin and a second reserved pin. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to compounds and polymers which incorporate a boronic acid sensor group (SG) of the formula (I): wherein: J is independently —CH2— or —CH2CH2—; n is independently 0, 1, 2, or 3; and each RR, if present, is independently a ring substituent; and wherein the ring attachment (i.e., where sensor group is attached) is via the 3-, 4-, 5-, or 6-ring position. Such compounds and polymers are useful in the selective chemical detection and/or quantitation of alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids, such as lactic acid/lactate and malic acid/malate. The present invention also pertains to methods of preparing such compounds and polymers; methods and assays which employ these compounds and polymers; devices (e.g., holographic sensors) and kits for use in such methods and assays, etc.
Abstract:
Pneumatic rubber tire having at least one component of a polybutadiene-rich rubber composition comprised of a blend of a continuous phase of a specialized cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber and a dispersed phase comprised of a composite of styrene/butadiene elastomer which contains a dispersion of at least partially exfoliated, intercalated, clay platelets, wherein said cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber and styrene/butadiene elastomer have spatially defined glass transition temperatures, wherein said blend contains amorphous silica and carbon black reinforcement. Such tire component may be, for example, a circumferential tread having a running surface intended to be ground-contacting or a sidewall insert.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to unglycosylated isolated and purified recombinant polypeptides comprising a fusion protein able to bind to autoantibodies produced in response to an autoimmune disease associated with an immune reaction to a TSH-receptor (TSHR). Also disclosed are methods of detecting and/or quantifying such autoantibodies using the isolated and purified recombinant polypeptides and respective kits.

Abstract:
The subject invention is directed towards tire components which are comprised of rubber compositions which are comprised of (1) about 2 phr to about 45 phr of a trans-1,4-isoprene-butadiene copolymer which has about 4 weight percent to about 16 weight percent butadiene repeat units and from about 84 weight percent to about 96 weight percent isoprene repeat units, wherein the trans-1,4-isoprene-butadiene copolymer has a Mooney ML 1+4 viscosity which is within the range of about 35 to about 80; and (2) about 55 phr to about 98 phr of at least one other elastomer, preferably a diene based elastomer. The most preferred tire components are those which contain cord reinforcements and require adequate green strength to enhance the tire building and shaping process to maintain cord integrity in the final cured tire.
Abstract:
A sensor for the detection of an analyte comprising a cis-diol moiety, which comprises a holographic element comprising a medium and a hologram disposed throughout the volume of the medium, wherein an optical characteristic of the element changes as a result of a variation of a physical property occurring throughout the volume of the medium, and wherein the medium is a polymer comprising a group of formula (i) wherein n is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; each X (if present) is independently is an atom or group which, via an electronic effect, promotes formation of a tetrahedral geometry about the boron atom; and Y is a spacer which, when n is 0 or otherwise optionally, is an atom or group which, via an electronic effect, promotes formation of a tetrahedral geometry about the boron atom. Such a sensor may be used for the detection of glucose.
Abstract:
This invention relates to preparation of nanocomposites comprised of elastomer and a dispersion of an at least partially exfoliated water swellable clay and to rubber compositions containing such nanocomposite and articles of manufacture which contain at least one component thereof. The nanocomposite is prepared by addition of a water suspension of water swellable clay particles to an anionic aqueous emulsion of elastomer particles to form a mixture to which an amine having at least two amine centers is added to intercalate and at least partially exfoliate the water swelled clay particles by an ion exchange within the galleries of the multilayered clay with cation exchangeable ion(s) and to aid in coagulating the elastomer and resultant clay particles to form said nanocomposite.
Abstract:
Described herein is a method of cloning synthetic oligos (including in situ synthesized oligos) into an (one or more) expression vector for library (e.g., shRNA library) production. The oligos are synthesized with one portion of the first stem of the hairpin, followed by a first loop sequence, the complete second stem, a second loop sequence, and finished with the remaining portion of the first stem of the hairpin. The two portions of the first stem anneal to the second stem, juxtaposing the 5′ end close to the 3′ end of the oligo. The methods described herein selected for hairpins with perfectly base-paired stems. After annealing, a ligase is added to the annealed oligos and the base-paired hairpins are preferentially annealed, and ligated, creating closed circular oligos. The now circularized hairpins served as templates for rolling circle amplification using a polymerase with high processivity. One or more primers complementary to the two strands of the amplified double stranded circular hairpins initiate the rolling circle amplification in the presence of a polymerase. Using primers (e.g., a sense and antisense primer), the rolling circle amplification yields double stranded hairpin sequences. These can be digested (e.g., using restriction enzymes) to produce a double-stranded hairpin fragment encoding a single hairpin. The fragment can be cloned into an appropriately digested vector for a variety of uses including expression.
