Abstract:
A string such as a bowstring or cable used in archery bows and crossbows include multiple strands. The multiple strands are not bound to each other but remain parallel and positioned side-by-side. The desired number of strands are laid up to a determined length and grouped together to create a bundle. The bundles can have different properties such as strength and stability depending on the direction the strands and bundles are twisted.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to make it possible to provide a cord, in particular, a cord for reinforcing a rubber article in which rubber permeation properties are improved by coating filaments as constituents of the cord with rubber in a reliable and stable manner. The cord of the present invention is produced by, when the metal filament is guided to an extruder and extruded together with rubber from a mouthpiece of the extruder so that the metal filament is coated with the rubber, juxtaposing plural metal filaments in the mouthpiece and extruding the metal filaments together with rubber.

Abstract:
A rubber product-reinforcing metallic cord is provided which comprises three to five metallic filaments, which shows a high degree of penetration of rubber without reducing compressive rigidity, and which can be manufactured at low facility and production costs. A rubber product-reinforcing metallic cord 7 is formed by twisting together a pre-strand 6 comprising a first metallic filament 1 and a second metallic filament 2 helically wrapped around the first filament 1, and a fifth metallic filament 3 (or 5) with a twist pitch P. The metallic cord 7 may be formed by twisting together two of such pre-strands, or by twisting together two of such pre-strands and the fifth metallic filament.
Abstract:
Provided are a steel cord for reinforcing rubber whose fatigue resistance is increased more than ever to enable achieving high durability that was not conventionally realized, and a pneumatic radial tire including the steel cord as a reinforcement member. In a steel cord for reinforcing rubber having a double-twist structure that includes a plurality of strands twisted together in the same direction with the same pitch and including a central structure and at least one outer layer, the central structure is composed of at least two strands being twisted around each other and each being composed of at least seven filaments being twisted together. In a steel cord for reinforcing rubber including at least three core strands being twisted together and at least six sheath strands being twisted together around the core strands, the core strands and the sheath strands are twisted in the same direction.
Abstract:
A zero degree tire reinforcing steel cord is formed by twisting together four to seven individual wires having a wire diameter of 0.20 to 0.45 mm, wherein the steel cord has a substantially spiral or a substantially planar wavy deformation, has an elongation of 1.2% to 2.0% under a tensile load of 50 N and becomes substantially linear with its wavy deformation disappearing under a tensile load of 50 to 250 N. The steel cord stretches to a moderate extent so as to track expansion of the tire in the radial direction during the vulcanization process and thereafter restrains expansion of the tire in the radial direction during continued high speed rotation of the tire.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire includes metal cords each made of metal filaments twisted together, the metal cords having an initial elongation in a range of from 0.05 to 0.20% and a standard deviation of the initial elongation in a range of not more than 0.02. A method of manufacturing the metal cord comprises shaping metal filaments in a two-dimensional zigzag waveform, and twisting the shaped metal filaments together, wherein the number of the filaments is in a range of from 8 to 12, the metal filaments have the same diameter (d) of from 0.15 to 0.30 mm, the shaped metal filaments have the same zigzag waveforms, the zigzag waveform of each said shaped metal filament has constant wave lengths (P) and constant wave heights (h) wherein the ratio (P/d) is in the range of 100/3 to 700/3, and the ratio (h/d) is in the range of 5/3 to 80/3.
Abstract:
A heavy duty pneumatic tire has a belt disposed radially outside a carcass and radially inside a tread portion, the belt having at least one ply of at least one high-elongation steel cord, the high elongation steel cord is formed by twisting at least three waving steel filaments together to form a core and a sheath surrounding the core, the waving filaments change place repeatedly along the longitudinal direction of the cord such that one of the filaments forms the core in a portion, but in a different portion of the cord, the same filament forms part of the sheath, thereby defining a plurality of first parts with the core and a plurality of second parts without the core which are disposed alternately in the longitudinal direction of the cord, and the elongation at break of the high-elongation steel cord is in the range of from 4 to 10%, whereby the resistance to breakage of the steel belt cords is improved and it becomes possible to decrease the belt weight without deteriorating various performances.
