Abstract:
The present invention relates to an optical sub-assembly, i.e. a receiver optical subassembly or a transmitter optical sub-assembly, for use in an optical transceiver device. The optical sub-assembly according to the present invention includes a hermetic ceramic package with a multi-layer ceramic structure providing a unique RF signal and ground structure providing a controlled signal impedance to achieve high signal transmission quality.
Abstract:
Compounds of the following formula (I): where a, b, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R6 are described herein, are useful as inhibitors of platelet adenosine diphosphate. Pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds, methods of using these compounds as antithrombotic agents and processes for synthesizing these compounds are also described herein.

Abstract:
A method of thermally poling a silica based waveguide (12) comprises exposing a region of the waveguide (12) to an electric field (for example, via capillary electrodes (22, 24) inserted into holes in the waveguide); directing a laser beam (18) into the region exposed to the electric field to effect localized heating of the region via direct absorption; and scanning the laser beam (18) over the region at a rate selected to avoid heating of the region above the glass transition temperature. Reversing the electric field while scanning the laser beam (18) allows the formation of periodic poled gratings. The waveguide (12) can comprise an optical fiber.
Abstract:
A downhole tool that functions as an underreamer, or alternatively, as a stabilizer in an underreamed borehole. The tool includes one or more moveable arms disposed within a body having a flowbore therethrough in fluid communication with the wellbore annulus. The tool alternates between collapsed and expanded positions in response to differential fluid pressure between the flowbore and the wellbore annulus. In one embodiment, the tool moves automatically in response to differential pressure. In a second embodiment, the tool must be selectively actuated before it is moveable. When the tool expands, the arms are preferably translated axially upwardly, while simultaneously being extended radially outwardly from the body. The expanded tool diameter is adjustable at the surface without changing components. The arms may include borehole engaging pads that comprise cutting structures or wear structures or both, depending upon the function of the tool.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to acyl piperazine derivatives, for example, of the following formula (Ia): wherein R1a, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 are described herein. These derivatives are useful as anti-inflammatory agents. This invention is also directed to pharmaceutical compositions containing the derivatives, and methods of using the derivatives to treat inflammatory disorders in humans.

Abstract:
Olefin co- or homopolymers having a good molecular weight and short chain branching may be prepared in the presence of a pyridyl bridged bisphosphinimine complex of a Group 8, 9 or 10 metal.
Abstract:
Flow control devices and associated control methods are described for use with hydraulic tools, such as those in a drill string. The described flow control device is typically incorporated into a drill string and is selectively operable in either a flow-through mode or a valve control mode. In the valve control mode, fluid pressure is increased or decreased within the drill string to selectively actuate a valve which is associated with the flow control device. In the flow-through mode, fluid pressure may be increased or decreased without operating the valve. Techniques are described for selectively moving the flow control device between the flow-through mode and the valve control mode. Wellbore fluid pressure readings provide signals to a rig operator for selectively moving the device in this manner.
Abstract:
Organometallic complexes having two phosphinimine ligands and at least one activatable ligand are catalyst components for olefin polymerization. Preferred polymerization systems are prepared by combining the organometallic complexes with an ionic activator and/or an alumoxane. Preferred catalyst components contain titanium, zirconium, or hafnium and are activated with an ionic activator to form catalysts for ethylene polymerization.
