The present invention provides a thermoplastic resin composition which is produced by a method which includes melt-kneading: (a) a polyphenylene sulfide resin, with (b) a polyetherimide resin or a polyethersulfone resin. The thermoplastic resin composition contains 99 to 1% by weight of the component (a) and 1 to 99% by weight of the component (b) based on 100% by weight of the total amount of the component (a) and the component (b). The melt-kneading step is conducted by employing an extruder provided with an elongational flow zone which is a zone in which melt-kneading is performed while being allowed to undergo elongational flow, wherein the flow effect pressure drop is from 50 to 1,000 kg/cm2 and is determined by subtracting the pressure value (P0) of the molten resin in the elongational flow zone from the pressure value (P) of the molten resin before entering the elongational flow zone.

More specifically, the embodiments herein relate to a benzoxazine resin composition that provides a carbon fiber-reinforced composite material that is suitable for use as a manufacture material due to its superior mechanical strength in extreme use environments, such as high temperature and high moisture, as well as a prepreg, and a carbon fiber-reinforced composite material. An embodiment comprises a benzoxazine resin composition having a multifunctional benzoxazine resin; a multifunctional epoxy resin that is a liquid at 40° C. and has three or more glycidyl groups; a sulfonate ester; and optionally at least one thermoplastic resin. The resin may include an interpenetrating network structure after curing.

The present invention discloses blend polymer membranes comprising thermally rearranged polymers derived from aromatic polyimides containing ortho-positioned functional groups and methods for making and using these blend polymer membranes. The blend polymer membranes described in the current invention are prepared by heat treatment of blend polymer membranes comprising aromatic polyimides containing ortho-positioned functional groups such as —OH or —SH groups. In some instances, an additional crosslinking step is performed to improve the selectivity of the membrane. These blend polymer membranes have improved flexibility, reduced cost, improved processability, and enhanced selectivity and/or permeability compared to the comparable polymer membranes that comprise a single polymer.
