    摘要: An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine includes a catalytic device within an exhaust path of the engine, wherein the catalytic device includes a housing with a catalyst carrier. A length of the catalyst carrier along a longitudinal axis, measured along a downstream flow direction of exhaust gas within the exhaust path, is substantially the same or a shorter than the upstream distance traveled by a reverse flow of exhaust gas during an exhaust gas pulsation within the housing. With this type of configuration, due to reciprocating movements of the exhaust gas caused by the pulsations, the same exhaust gas passes through the catalyst carrier multiple times. Thus, an increased number of heat exchanges take place within the catalyst carrier, which rapidly increases the catalyst temperature after a cold engine start.

When the vehicle is operated in marine mode, the coolant liquid is cooled by the liquid-liquid heat exchanger(s). The air-liquid heat exchanger(s) may also be used on water. The vehicle may plane, and have retractable road wheels. The air-liquid heat exchanger(s) may be mounted at the front or rear of the vehicle, or elsewhere.

    摘要: A watercraft has an exhaust conduit that includes an exhaust gas passage and a cooling water passage. The exhaust gas passage and the cooling water passage are configured to mix together an exhaust gas flow and a cooling water flow at a junction. The mixture is ultimately discharged from the watercraft. The watercraft has an exhaust valve drive system that has a drive motor and a controller. The exhaust valve drive system operates an exhaust control valve to control the flow of exhaust gases through the exhaust conduit. The exhaust control valve includes a pivot shaft extending generally horizontally and attached to a valve body. The exhaust control valve is positioned upstream of the junction. The controller operates the drive motor which drives the exhaust control valve between an open position and closed position. The controller can receive signals from an engine rotation sensor and a throttle opening sensor and can control the drive motor based on these signals. A catalyst for treating the exhaust gases is disposed upstream in the exhaust gas passage along the exhaust control valve.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a catalyst for an internal combustion engine, particularly of a motor vehicle, with a housing, which is assembled from at least two housing portions, telescopically inserted one into another in the throughflow direction of the housing, which is assembled from two housing portions telescopically inserted one into the other. A first monolith is mounted in a first housing portion, and a second monolith is mounted in a second housing portion. In an insertion region, an outer end section of the second housing portion and an inner end section of the first housing portion inserted into the outer end section mutually overlap. A transition zone, in which the monoliths, are spaced apart from one another in the throughflow direction, is formed within the insertion region. In this transition zone, the cross sections of the housing portions are matched to each other such that a gap is formed, passing around, closed in the circumferential direction, between the inner end section and the outer end section.
