    摘要: A system for safely dispensing fluids, especially low stability fluids such as catalysts, comprises a pair of fluid operated pumps of very small volume alternately operable for drawing in individually small quantities of catalyst from an unpressurized, sanitary source of supply, and for then pressurizing and dispensing the catalyst in individually small increments; the two pumps operating alternately to provide a continuous pressurized discharge of catalyst despite the fact that only a small quantity is pressurized at any given time. Because only a small quantity of catalyst is under pressure, and the basic supply is not under pressure and is maintained in a sanitary condition, the potential for violent reaction of the low stability fluid is greatly reduced. Also, the small quantity of fluid involved taken in conjunction with force dissipating structural features incorporated in the system, produces a manageable reaction, despite the conventional violence of such reactions, whereby the system greatly minimizes the hazards heretofore involved in the use of such low stability fluids.

    摘要: The specification and drawings disclose a dispensing pump assembly which includes a first, vertically extending tubular cylinder for a piston mounted therein and adapted to reciprocate vertically. At the lower end of the cylinder, there is an inlet provided with a check valve which permits flow in only one direction into the cylinder. Immediately above the check valve is a discharge outlet having an outlet check valve. Preferably, the inlet and outlet check valves are relatively large diameter balls. Extending upwardly from the discharge check valve is a discharge pipe or tube which connects to a horizontally extending dispensing control assembly. The dispensing control assembly includes a pipe having an outlet and a reciprocal slide valve which controls flow through the outlet. Both the piston and the slide valve are controlled by separate double acting air cylinders. Additionally, control means are provided for controlling the operation of the air cylinders so that the valve is opened only when the piston is moving toward the inlet valve.

A pilot valve operated by the air piston controls one operating valve for the cylinder and a pilot relay valve. The pilot relay valve controls another operating valve which is in reverse phase with respect to the first-operating valve. The piston-operated pilot valve has a snap action feature so that the pilot valve, the pilot relay valve and the operating valves all reverse condition abruptly with a minimum dwell to provide a smoother power transmission. Also a muffler which inhibits ice formation is operatively associated with the operating valves for muffling the noise of the air being exhausted from the air cylinder through the operating valves with minimal accumulation of ice.
