Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an additive for a solvent-based coating material which has high coating material product stability when added to a solvent-based coating material and whereby the resulting coating film has excellent abrasion resistance.Specifically, the present invention provides a silica composition containing silica coated with a cationic surfactant represented by a specific structure, and also provides a solvent-based coating material composition comprising the silica composition.
Abstract:
It is possible to provide polyimide powder which has an average size of 25 μm or less and is free from metal impurities which would otherwise be produced due to abrasion of a machine used for mechanical milling. The polyimide powder is an aggregate of fine particles produced through precipitation of polyimide dissolved in a treatment solution containing a basic substance. A residual amount of alkali metal derived from the basic substance contained in the treatment solution is 1% or less of a total amount of the polyimide powder. It is possible to reduce bad effects due to an alkali metal residue and to prevent decomposition of polyimide by the alkali metal residue.
Abstract:
An absorbable PEG-based hydrogel prepared from a multi-arm-PEG-vinylsulfone having about 3 to about 8 arms and a multi-arm-PEG-R-sulfhydryl having about 3 to about 8 arms; where R is defined as an ester linkage, such as carboxylate ester, lactate ester, and isobutyrate ester have been disclosed. Additionally, sustained release compositions that are prepared from an absorbable PEG-based hydrogel and a protein have been disclosed which provide sustained release of proteins and peptides.
Abstract:
A hybrid pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) composition includes (i) a solvent phase comprising a first acrylic PSA dissolved in an organic solvent, an alcohol, and optionally water; and (ii) an emulsion phase comprising a second, emulsified acrylic PSA. In another aspect, a metalized film laminate includes a metalized film layer, a hybrid PSA layer, and an ink-containing polymeric film layer. The two-phase hybrid PSA system effectively addresses both metal tear and ink pick problems associated with conventional metalized film laminates.
Abstract:
Described is a class of symmetrical and asymmetrical N-alkyl lactam ethers. One preferred ether is bis-N-ethyl pyrrolidone ether. Preferred compositions and uses of the ethers are in performance chemicals, personal care, and pharmaceutical fields, where they function a variety of roles, including as a solvent, solubilizer, freezing point depressor, diluent, extracting agent, cleaning agent, degreaser, absorbent and/or dispersion agent.
Abstract:
Water-borne cross-linking polymeric compositions and related embodiments, such as methods of making and using the compositions, as well as products formed with said compositions are described. For example, the water-borne composition may comprise polymers incorporating cross-linking functionality such as, but not limited to, carbonyl or epoxy functionality, and a blocked cross-linking agent, for example, a hydrazone. The cross-linking functionality does not react with the blocked cross-linking agent; however, the blocked cross-linking agent is capable of reacting with the alternative form cross-linking agent such as, but not limited to, a hydrazide, to yield a cross-linked polymer. The alternative form cross-linking agent may be formed in an equilibrium reaction including the blocked cross-linking agent.

Abstract:
Redispersible polymer powder compositions which include a polyglycol in admixture with a redispersible polymer powder (RDP), which powder includes a codried mixture of a carboxylated, water insoluble film-forming styrene butadiene polymer and a colloidal stabilizer, results in cement compositions having unexpectedly superior overall bonding strength and adhesion after water immersion. Use of the polyglycol provides good workability or ease of troweling during application. In addition, the RDP composition, which includes the RDP and the polyglycol, provides the cement-based composition with excellent abrasion resistance, surface appearance, and color. Also, the RDP composition provides for at least a 30% reduction, for example a 50% or more reduction in the amount of retarder or retardant employed in the dry mix formulation for cement compositions, such as self leveling flooring compounds or compositions, and cement-based tile adhesives.

Abstract:
A purification method for a biological fluid comprising at least a filtration step through a membrane obtained from a sulfone polymer (PSI) derived from bio-based feed-stocks. In particular the polymer (PSI) comprises more than 50% moles recurring units (RPSI) comprising sugar moieties selected from the group consisting of those of formulae (E′-I) to (E′-III):
A membrane free from pore-forming agents comprising at least one sulfone polymer (PSI) and a method for preparing such a membrane.
