    Abstract: There is provided a one-part, moisture curable coating composition comprising: a silyl terminated polymer, wherein the silyl terminated polymer is polyoxyalkylene polymer having at least one end group derived from an alkoxy silane, and a polyether plasticizer, and further the polyether plasticizer has a number average molecular weight between 300 g/mol to 600 g/mol. There are also provided articles and films made using and methods for using these coating compositions.

    Abstract: The present invention aims to develop an aqueous heat-shielding coating material to which low staining properties are imparted to suppress a reduction in heat-shielding properties due to the reduction in solar reflectance caused by adhesion of contaminants in the air during outdoor exposure, thereby maintaining the heat-shielding properties for a long period of time. The above problem is solved by providing a resin composition for an aqueous coating material including: (A1) a water-soluble and/or water-dispersible resin; (A2) a heat-shielding pigment; (B1) an organosilicate and/or a modified product of the organosilicate; and (B2) a curing catalyst that promotes a hydrolysis/condensation reaction of an alkoxysilyl group.

    Abstract: A curable film-forming coating composition, typically a clearcoat, having improved compatibility over waterborne and solventborne basecoats. The composition includes a film-forming binder comprising a carbamate material, a curing agent, typically a monomeric melamine curing agent, and a hydroxy functional silane component. When used as a clearcoat over a standard pigmented basecoat, the resulting coating provides a substantially wrinkle free appearance and excellent adhesion to both waterborne and solventborne basecoats.

    Abstract: A method for providing a flexible hardcoat on a substrate includes the use of a dual cure silane possessing a UV curable group and a thermally curable silane group. The dual cure silane hydrolyzed and a portion of the silanol groups are condensed with silica to provide a fluid coating composition which is then applied to a substrate. A first cure with UV radiation causes the coating to harden into a flexible hardcoat which permits the substrate to be thermoformed or embossed without damage to the coating. The substrate is then heated to thermally cure the hardcoat to provide a fully cured hard and abrasion resistant hardcoat.
