摘要: High permeability curly fibers with enhanced fiber strength are produced by mercerizing cellulosic fibers. The fibers have relatively high values for curl, kink level, wet tensile strength, and bulk density when compared with current fibers. The disclosed fibers can be used in a wide range of applications including paper products such as filters.

摘要: A filter element for fluid filtration, in particular for hydraulic fluid, has element components, such as pleated and multi-layer filter material (10) that extends between two end caps (26) and has a fluid-permeable supporting tube (14) forming a hollow cylinder. At least one element component of the filter element is provided at least partially with at least one luminescent material or marker such that the material or marker is excited to a characteristic, detectable wave emission when exposed to a certain exciter wave or wave spectrum.

摘要: An embodiment of the present disclosure is a method for forming a substrate. The method includes applying an aqueous solution of nanoparticle precursors to an assembly of fibers, wherein the nanoparticle precursors include a metal salt and a reducing agent. The method also includes drying the assembly of fibers with thermal energy in a continuous operation to form the substrate, thereby drying gives rise to metal nanoparticles in the substrate. The metal nanoparticles have a size that ranges from 1 to about 200 nanometers in at least one dimension.

摘要: In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to substance detecting assemblies that include: (1) a sample medium (e.g., filter paper); and (2) a solid test chemical (e.g., zinc) impregnated with the sample medium. In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to methods of making an assembly for detecting a substance by: (1) providing a sample medium; (2) providing a solid test chemical; and (3) impregnating the sample medium with the solid test chemical. In further embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to methods for detecting a substance by: (1) collecting the substance on a sample medium that is impregnated with a solid test chemical; and (2) initiating a reaction of the substance with the solid test chemical on the sample medium to generate a color that corresponds to the substance. In some embodiments, the sample medium is then inserted into a chemical detection unit for the detection of the substance.

摘要: Process for the production of a cured pulp product suitable for use in the production of paper, paperboard, tissue paper, filter paper or fluff pulp, comprising the steps of attaching an anionic or amphoteric carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) to cellulosic fibres in acidic conditions or in the presence of divalent metal ions. Aluminium ions or divalent ions are then added to the slurry to a total molar concentration of from 0.0001 M to 0.5 M in the first pulp slurry. The first pulp slurry is then dewatered and cured in acidic conditions and a cured pulp product is provided. The cured pulp product is subsequently used in a paper making process to provide a paper-based product, whereby higher bulk is provided for the final paper-based product. Alternatively, the curing step is omitted and instead aluminium ions are added to the first pulp slurry and the pulp is directly used in a paper making process.

摘要: Soil adsorbing composites, and more particularly to soil adsorbing composites that exhibit improved (lower values) Backscattering Values as measured according to the Soil Flocculation and Settling Test Method described herein compared to non-soil adsorbing composites (such as particulate materials, for example silica and/or pulp fibers, that are not associated with a soil adsorbing polymer), soil adsorbing compositions containing same, processes for making same, and methods for using same.

摘要: The invention relates to a cigarette paper onto which a composition is applied in the form of a pattern which has a Tamura coarseness of at most 0.22 mm, preferably at most 0.2 mm. According to ISO 2470-1 the absolute difference in whiteness between an area of the cigarette paper over the whole of which the composition is applied and an area of the cigarette paper onto which the composition is not applied is at least 25% in the dry state, preferably at least 35% and particularly preferably at least 40% and at most 60%, preferably at most 55%. Furthermore, the opacity according to ISO 2471 of an area of the cigarette paper over the whole of which this composition is applied is higher, when the composition is in the dry state, than the opacity of an area onto which this composition is not applied.

摘要: A method of producing a filter wrapper paper for a smoking article is described. The paper has a content of long-fiber pulp of at least 30 wt %, preferably at least 40 wt %, relative to the pure fiber mass of the paper. The freeness of the long-fiber pulp as per ISO 5267, Schopper-Riegler method, is between 80° SR and 100° SR, preferably between 85° SR and 95° SR. The filter wrapper paper has a filler content of less than 10 wt %, preferably less than 8 wt %, and especially preferably less than 6 wt % relative to the total mass of the paper and is impregnated with a material that is suitable for forming an aqueous composition, more particularly an aqueous solution or an aqueous suspension. The oil-resistance of the filter wrapper paper has a KIT level of at least 4, preferably at least 5, according to TAPPI T559 cm-02.
