摘要:
The present disclosure is directed to tubular fibers and methods of making thereof. In some cases, the fibers may be made of a hydrogel, in some cases an alginate hydrogel. The tube may have a nonsolid inner layer and an outer layer surrounding the inner layer. At least one of the inner layer and the outer layer may contain cells. In some cases, the tubular fiber may be used to study intercellular interactions.

Embodiments of this invention are directed to substituted polyaniline nanofibers and methods of synthesizing and using the same. The invention is also directed to polyaniline derivatives that can be synthesized without the need for templates or functional dopants by using an initiator as part of a reaction mixture.
摘要:
The invention relates to a continuous, scalable and parallelizable method for preparing strong and stiff fibres (filaments) or films. The fibre or film is prepared by utilizing hydrodynamically induced alignment of the constituents of a dispersion in combination with surface-charge controlled gel transition to produce fibres with a high degree of alignment of the constituents (polymer(s), fibrils etc). The invention also relates to the fibres or films so formed.

The present disclosure relates to a method of forming fibers. First and second precursors, each possessing a core and at least one functional group known to have click reactivity, are mixed in a hopper. The mixed precursors are then extruded through an extrusion die to crosslink and produce a filament. Polymerization of the first and second precursors is catalyzed by transition metal ions.

A new method for forming stable polyaniline nanofiber colloids uses electrostatic repulsion to maintain dispersion of the nanofibers and prevent aggregation during synthesis of the nanofibers. The colloidal suspensions are formed directly from the reactants in solution maintained at a pH of about 1.0 to about 4.0 and a temperature of about 10° C. to about 100° C. with minimal or no stirring. Also set forth are new methods for forming ultrathin films of polyaniline nanofibers via self-assembly.

Boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs), boron nitride nanoparticles (BNNPs), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphites, or combinations, are incorporated into matrices of polymer, ceramic or metals. Fibers, yarns, and woven or nonwoven mats of BNNTs are used as toughening layers in penetration resistant materials to maximize energy absorption and/or high hardness layers to rebound or deform penetrators. They can be also used as reinforcing inclusions combining with other polymer matrices to create composite layers like typical reinforcing fibers such as Kevlar®, Spectra®, ceramics and metals. Enhanced wear resistance and usage time are achieved by adding boron nitride nanomaterials, increasing hardness and toughness. Such materials can be used in high temperature environments since the oxidation temperature of BNNTs exceeds 800° C. in air. Boron nitride based composites are useful as strong structural materials for anti-micrometeorite layers for spacecraft and space suits, ultra strong tethers, protective gear, vehicles, helmets, shields and safety suits/helmets for industry.

An article of fibers includes a cured compound. The fibers are formed from electrospinning a dispersion. The dispersion includes a liquid and a condensation curable compound. A content of the liquid in the dispersion is reduced such that the condensation curable compound cures. The article is formed from a method of manufacturing which includes the step of forming the dispersion. The method also includes the step of electro spinning the dispersion to reduce the content of the liquid such that the condensation curable compound cures.
