Abstract: Provided are azido-BODIPY compounds of formula (I), cyclooctyne-based fluorogenic probes of formula (IV), and activity-based probes of formula (VI). These compounds undergo azide-alkyne cycloadditions (AAC) with to form triazolyl products. The provided compounds are useful for detection and imaging of alkyne-, or azide-containing molecules. Methods for detection and imaging biomolecules using compounds of the present disclosure are disclosed.

Abstract: A precision high-speed shuttle device for transporting samples between different positions of a superconducting magnet with different magnetic field strength is provided. The sample equilibrated at the center of the magnet, where the magnetic field is the highest and homogeneous, is shuttled to a higher position above, where the fringe field is lower, for a defined period of time and shuttled back to the center for detection. By shuttling the sample to different positions in the magnet in different experiments one can obtain a field-dependent profile of particular physical parameters. The position and timing of the sample are precisely under the experimental controlled. In this way various magnetic field-dependent nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments can be conducted in a single high-field NMR spectrometer.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a multiple drugs delivery system and its uses in treating diseases. The multiple drugs delivery system includes, an anti-PEG antibody for directing the PEGylated therapeutic to the treatment site; and a hydrogel for retaining the anti-PEG antibody and/or the PEGylated therapeutic at the treatment site for at least 3 days. The hydrogel is selected from the group consisting of hyaluronan (HA) or a derivative of HA, collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, fibrinogen, alginate, chitosan, and a synthetic biocompatible polymer. The anti-PEG antibody and the hydrogel are present in the mixture in a ratio from about 1:1 (v/v) to 1:100 (v/v). At least two dosages of the PEGylated therapeutic, which may be the same or different, are administered to the subject, with each dosage being given at about 1 hour to about 1 week apart. Accordingly, a novel method of treating a subject having cancer or ischemic disease is also provided.

Abstract: A phase-modulated optical component for the visible spectrum is provided and is capable of producing images in three primary colors. The phase-modulated optical component is primarily structured by a plurality of aluminum nanorods that are arranged in several two-dimensional arrays to form a plurality of pixels. The nanorods can yield surface plasmon resonances in red, green and blue light. By tuning the nanorod size in the arrays, the wavelength-dependent reflectance thereof can be varied across the visible spectrum, thereby realizing wavelength division multiplexing operations for the phase-modulated optical component.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are novel uses of avenaciolide derivatives and the preparation method of producing the same. The avenaciolide derivatives may suppress or inhibit the growth of gram-positive bacteria, including the notorious methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Accordingly, the avenaciolides derivatives are potential lead compounds for the development of next generation antibiotics for the treatment of disease and/or disorders related to infection caused by gram-positive bacteria.
