Abstract:
Technologies related to scene analysis for improved eye tracking are generally described. In some examples, detected gaze targets may be derived from gaze direction information from an eye-facing sensor. Detected gaze target positions and/or motion may be improved by capturing and analyzing digital scene information from a scene visible by the eye. Digital scene information captured by a digital camera may be analyzed to identify potential gaze targets, such as stationary gaze targets, moving gaze targets, and/or accelerating gaze targets. Detected gaze targets may be modified to positions of selected gaze targets.
Abstract:
Technologies are described herein for improving performance and energy efficiency in a computing system while using a large memory page size. Some example technologies may configure a main memory of the computing system to include a page-to-chunk table and a data area. The page-to-chunk table may include multiple entries such as a first entry. The first entry may correspond to a page that is made up of multiple chunks. The first entry may include pointers to the multiple chunks stored in the data area.
Abstract:
Minimally invasive endoscopic and laparoscopic devices and methods for inverting and closing a diverticulum. Devices can include a closing component such as a loop, a clip, or a suture that can allow the diverticulum to be removed or to slough off after necrosis.
Abstract:
An anastomosis device may include a base member defining a passageway between a first end and a second end of the base member, a first support member connected to the base member proximal to the first end, and a second support member connected to the base member proximal to the second end. The base member may have a cutting element to cut tissue from the first end. At least one of the first support member and the second support member may be movable along a length of the base member to secure a portion of tissue between the first and second support members.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for a multi-layer file system. In the multi-layer file system, a file is arranged into two or more data blocks respectively associated with corresponding multi-entry file indices. Each multi-entry file index can point to a location index at the beginning of a linked list (an initial entry in the linked list). The linked list may have at least one location index as an entry to identify a location in the storage device where the associated data block is stored.
Abstract:
Nylon 7 may be produced from biomass derived 6-carbon hydroxymethyl furan compounds as the raw material. The hydroxymethyl furan compounds may be homologated to form an aldehyde that may be aminated to produce an amino carbonyl compound. Hydrogenation/hydro-deoxygenation of the amino-carbonyl compound provides nylon 7.
Abstract:
Methods of curing a photo-curable material, photo-curing devices, apparatuses for curing a photo-curable material, and methods of forming a photo-curing device are disclosed. A method of curing a photo-curable material may include placing a photo-curing device having a magnetic body adjacent to the photo-curable material and controlling movement of the photo-curing device with at least one magnet. A photo-curing device may include a magnetic body and at least one light source positioned at one or more locations on the magnetic body and configured to emit electromagnetic radiation. The magnetic body may be configured to be movable adjacent to a photo-curable material by at least one magnet.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described for devices for detection of a biofilm by a color change in a moisture-indicating substance, such as a chemical or a dye. The moisture indicating material may be supported by a substrate and sealed to keep moisture from the moisture indicating material. Alternatively, the moisture indicating material may be supported in a pouch and sealed by the pouch. The color change results from an ingress of moisture accompanying growth of a biofilm. The moisture-indicating substance may be used with indwelling or other devices to detect a biofilm. When the biofilm has sufficiently degraded the seal, an ingress of moisture and its accompanying pH may cause a color change in the moisture-indicating substance to signify the presence of the biofilm. Methods of manufacture and use of the disclosed devices are also described.
Abstract:
A pressure detection tablet is disclosed. The tablet is a capsule including a dye encapsulated within an inner coating, in which the inner coating is configured to rupture at a pressure equal to or greater than a pressure threshold. The tablet further includes an outer coating surrounding the capsule, in which the outer coating is configured to provide delivery of the capsule to a targeted site. The dye may be a non-metabolized, water soluble dye, such that a ruptured capsule releases the dye which can be visually detected in the urine. In some embodiments, the disclosure provides a method of making the tablet, using the tablet to detect peak pressure in the colon and reducing the risk of developing a colonic disorder.
Abstract:
Technologies are generally described to redirect data from application sandboxes to datacenters. In some examples, an application operating in an application sandbox may exchange data with an application data store, such as a file or a directory, also located in the sandbox. The data store may then exchange data with a datacenter at a particular geographic locale over a network connection established by a sandbox data servicer module. The network connection may be periodically updated to connect the data store with different datacenters at different geographic locales based on geographic information associated with the application, a device on which the application executes, the datacenters, and/or the exchanged data.
