Abstract: A stream of data is accessed from a memory system using a stream of addresses generated in a first mode of operating a streaming engine in response to executing a first stream instruction. A block cache management operation is performed on a cache in the memory using a block of addresses generated in a second mode of operating the streaming engine in response to executing a second stream instruction.

Abstract: Software instructions are executed on a processor within a computer system to configure a steaming engine with stream parameters to define a multidimensional array. The stream parameters define a size for each dimension of the multidimensional array and a specified width for two selected dimensions of the array. Data is fetched from a memory coupled to the streaming engine responsive to the stream parameters. A stream of vectors is formed for the multidimensional array responsive to the stream parameters from the data fetched from memory. When either selected dimension in the stream of vectors exceeds a respective specified width, the streaming engine inserts null elements into each portion of a respective vector for the selected dimension that exceeds the specified width in the stream of vectors. Stream vectors that are completely null are formed by the streaming engine without accessing the system memory for respective data.

Abstract: Various configurations of processors are provided. In a configuration, the processor comprises first and second multiplication units. The first multiplication unit includes first multiply circuitry including a first set of outputs; and first multiplexing logic coupled to the first set of outputs and configured to generate a first partial sum and a first partial carry. Abstract: In an embodiment, a circuit includes a data path including at least a first lane of a first width and a second lane of a second, larger, width; an execution unit to execute a first instruction on data of the first width or less using the first lane, and to execute a second instruction on data greater than the first width and less than or equal to the second width using the second lane; and a control register that stores a value indicating which of the first and second lanes to be used in instruction execution by the execution unit. The circuit is configured to, based on the value stored in the control register, power off the first lane when the execution unit executes the second instruction but not the first instruction, and power off the second lane when the execution unit executes the first instruction but not the second instruction.

Abstract: A method is provided that includes performing, by a processor in response to a floating point multiply instruction, multiplication of floating point numbers, wherein determination of values of implied bits of leading bit encoded mantissas of the floating point numbers is performed in parallel with multiplication of the encoded mantissas, and storing, by the processor, a result of the floating point multiply instruction in a storage location indicated by the floating point multiply instruction.

Abstract: A method for sorting of a vector in a processor is provided that includes performing, by the processor in response to a vector sort instruction, sorting of values stored in lanes of the vector to generate a sorted vector, wherein the values are sorted in an order indicated by the vector sort instruction, and storing the sorted vector in a storage location.

Abstract: In an example, a device includes a register file; a set of functional units coupled to the register file; and an instruction decoder coupled to the register file and to the set of functional units. The instruction decoder receives an executable instruction directed to a specific functional unit of the set of functional unit. The executable instruction includes a segment specifying a register of the register file. The instruction decoder also provides the executable instruction to the specific functional unit. The specific functional unit then determines whether to execute the executable instruction based on a value stored in the register of the register file specified by the segment of the executable instruction.

Abstract: In described examples, a processor system includes a processor core generating memory transactions, a lower level cache memory with a lower memory controller, and a higher level cache memory with a higher memory controller having a memory pipeline. The higher memory controller is connected to the lower memory controller by a bypass path that skips the memory pipeline. The higher memory controller: determines whether a memory transaction is a bypass write, which is a memory write request indicated not to result in a corresponding write being directed to the higher level cache memory; if the memory transaction is determined a bypass write, determines whether a memory transaction that prevents passing is in the memory pipeline; and if no transaction that prevents passing is determined to be in the memory pipeline, sends the memory transaction to the lower memory controller using the bypass path.
