Abstract:
An illumination system including a light source, a light guide including an output surface, emissive material positioned between the light source and the output surface of the light guide, and an interference reflector positioned between the emissive material and the output surface of the light guide is disclosed. The light source emits light having a first optical characteristic. The emissive material emits light having a second optical characteristic when illuminated with light having the first optical characteristic. The interference reflector substantially transmits light having the second optical characteristic and substantially reflects light having the first optical characteristic.
Abstract:
A multiple layer reflective polarizer 12 is described. This element is placed between and optical cavity 24 and an LCD module 16 to form an optical display. The reflective polarizer reflects some light into the optical cavity 24 where it is randomized and may ultimately emerge with the correct polarization to be transmitted out of the display.
Abstract:
A saw, such as a chop saw, a miter saw, a sliding saw, a compound miter saw, etc. In some constructions, the saw may include a miter adjustment assembly including a coarse adjustment assembly and a fine adjustment assembly. In some constructions, the saw may include a bevel adjustment assembly including a brake mechanism and a bevel detent assembly. In some constructions, the saw may include a dust collection assembly including a dust chute defining a dust both around the bevel arm. In some constructions, the saw may include a table having a top wall with a peripheral rim and a side wall depending from the top wall, and a base defining an opening in which the side wall is received and a ledge above which the rim is positioned. In some constructions, the saw may include elastomeric material covering a portion of the base, such as a bottom surface, a lateral surface, a grip surface, etc.

Abstract:
A flexible mirror attachment that is permanently affixed to an electric shaver. A mirror is permanently affixed to one extreme of the flexible shaft, and the other extreme is permanently affixed to the electric shaver. In the preferred embodiment, the mirror is fog-free, and the flexible shaft is a gooseneck extension shaft, capable of being adjusted into complex curved shapes, and of retaining its shape after adjustment. It is attached to the lower back portion of the electric shaver so that it can be bent completely out of the way if desired.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a device for applying at least a laser needle on a patient's body. Said device comprises a fixing element capable of being adapted to a part of the patient's body. Said fixing element includes at least a guide for receiving the laser needle so that the latter can be moved relative to the body part by means of said guide.
Abstract:
This invention is an instrument adaptable for integration into a process tool the combines a number of instruments for surface characterization. As an integrated process monitor, the invention is capable of monitoring surface dishing, surface erosion and thickness of residue layers on work-pieces with little time delay. The invention is adaptable to making measurements while a wafer or work-piece is either wet or dry. A preferred embodiment includes an integrated optical profiler adapted to surface profiling in the presence of optical interference arising from retro-reflections from underlying optical non-uniformities Alternate embodiments include an integrated stylus profiler with vibration isolation.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a coated low-fat and fat-free pretzels having a surface area to inner volume ratio of from about 22 inches−1 (8.66 cm−1) to about 40 inches−1 (15.75 cm−1), a pH of about 8 or less, a digestible fat content of less than 3 g per 28 g serving, and a moisture content of from about 1% to about 4%. The large surface area to inner volume ratio permits the use of reduced concentrations of caustic solution and facilitates drying. Coated pretzels are prepared by: (1) applying a warm coating comprising a carbohydrate selected from modified starch, corn syrup solids, maltodextrins, dextrins, and mixtures thereof; water; and preferably flavoring to ready-to-eat pretzels while tumbling; (2) adding sugar and optionally salt to the tumbling pretzels; (3) removing the pretzels from the tumbling device; and (4) drying the pretzels with the products stationary. The pretzels have substantially improved texture, taste and flavor display. Additionally, the color and shiny surface which is characteristic of pretzels is maintained.
