Abstract: A method of detecting and warning an operator of an off-road vehicle of objects in limited-visibility environments. The method includes: detecting a potentially-hazardous object within the vicinity of the vehicle, using a sensor of the vehicle; transmitting data relating to the potentially-hazardous object to a vehicle processor; determining whether the potentially-hazardous object is in a projected path of the vehicle or in a proximity zone of the vehicle; and alerting the operator of the vehicle to the presence and location of the potentially-hazardous object when the potentially-hazardous object is in the projected path of the vehicle or in the proximity zone of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle assembly includes a roof panel with a first roof mount with a first extension sized to be received in a first roof recess and a second roof mount with a second extension sized to be received in a second roof recess. The first roof mount includes a first mount recess having a first fastener passage receiving a first fastener. The first fastener couples the first roof mount to the roof panel at the first roof recess. The first roof mount includes a first receiver channel. The second roof mount may be similarly formed with a second fastener in a second receiver channel. The second roof mount includes a second receiver channel. The assembly includes a first roof rail that may include a first rail channel at least partially disposed in the first receiver channel and the second receiver channel. The rails are attached to the mounts with fasteners.

Abstract: A snowmobile comprises a chassis with a front portion and a tunnel, and a power train unit supported by the chassis. The snowmobile further includes a plurality of ground-engaging members cooperating with the power train unit to operate the snowmobile. The plurality of ground-engaging members includes a pair of front skis and an endless track assembly. The snowmobile also includes a front suspension operably coupled to the pair of front skis. The snowmobile also includes a rear suspension operably coupled to the track. The rear suspension includes slide rails and track sliders for engaging the track. The track sliders are comprised of a first and second retention members for coupling with the slide rail. The retention members are comprised of a plurality of recesses where material is removed for light weighting.

Abstract: A snowmobile warning and control method for a snowmobile having an engine and a brake system, including: sensing a temperature of the brake system of the vehicle; determining that the temperature of the brake system is above a first predetermined temperature threshold; issuing a first brake-system temperature warning in response to the temperature of the brake system exceeding the first predetermined temperature threshold; determining that the temperature of the brake system is above a second predetermined temperature, the second predetermined temperature being greater than the first predetermined temperature; issuing a second brake-system temperature warning in response to the temperature of the brake system exceeding the second predetermined temperature threshold; and modifying an operation of the engine in response to the temperature of the brake system exceeding the second predetermined temperature threshold.

Abstract: An interactive system for use in connection with recreational vehicle usage includes a server system, including an off-road trail database containing trail data, trail condition information, and points-of-interest information, as well as a trip mapping system accessible by any of a plurality of riders, allowing a rider to create a route based on the data in the off-road trip database. The server system further includes a trail maintenance interface accessible by users affiliated with an authorized group to edit the trail data, trail condition information, and points-of-interest information associated with the authorized group. The server system includes a location data management system configured to receive location data, allowing a rider to publish location information to one or more other riders, and a user feedback interface configured to receive trip data from riders for publication, including information describing an actual route and user data associated with that route.
