摘要: A multi-mass filter for separating particles according to their mass-charge ratio includes a chamber for receiving a multi-species plasma that includes particles therein having different mass-charge ratios (with M1 Mc3) and only the intermediate particles M2 are ejected into the second region (M2>Mc2). In another embodiment, the radial electrical field is increased outwardly from the axis to a radial distance a2 (r2) at a first rate. The electrical field is then increased radially outward between a2 (r2) and a radial distance a3 (r3) at a lower rate. This electric field configuration defines the first region between the axis and a2 (r2), and the second region between a2 (r2) and a3 (r3). The third region is located radially beyond the second region. Accordingly, with Mc2=er22B2/(8*(Vctr−V2)) and Mc3=e(r32−r22)B2/(8*V2), particles M1 are confined in the first region, while both particles M3 and M2 are ejected from the first region into the second region. The particles M2 are, however, confined in the second region and only the particles M3 are ejected from the second region into the third region.

摘要: A process is disclosed for inhibiting enzymatic browning in raw, peeled potatoes comprising dipping the potatoes in a solution of heated organic acids (45-65.degree. C.), followed by treatment in a weakly basic solution to neutralize the potato surface and treatment with reducing agents, followed by storage in modified atmosphere packaging. The process may comprise two stages, in which sodium erythorbate in solution (approximate pH 7.8) is used both as the neutralizing agent and the reducing agent. Alternatively, the process may comprise three stages, in which a solution of the salt of an organic acid (such as sodium citrate) is used to neutralize the potato surface following the heated acid dip, and a third stage containing the reducing agents sodium erythorbate and erythorbic acid are combined at a final pH of greater than 4.3. Chelating agents or sequestrants may be added to the solutions. The process tends to delay the onset of enzymatic browning and, once browning has begun, limits the extent of enzymatic browning. The novel process causes little or no hardening or separation of the potato surface tissue in the final cooked product, and is potentially an alternative to the present use of sulfites for raw, peeled potatoes.

摘要: A capacitor module having a solid dielectric is cleared in a gaseous environment having an electric strength greater than that of air at a pressure of one atmosphere. A plurality of such cleared capacitor modules is formed into a stack which itself is then cleared by the same clearing process. During intended operation in an electric circuit, the capacitor arrangement would be maintained in such gaseous environment having an electric strength greater than that of air at a pressure of one atmosphere.

摘要: An apparatus and method effecting a linear color transformation between foreground video and insert video, in a chroma key video image. A determination is made whether a particular pel, or pixel in the foreground video image is either a full foreground pel, a full blue screen pel, or a transition pel. Predetermined "look up" tables store color values in vectorscope domain which correspond to endpoint UV foreground and endpoint full background UV blue values, for each foreground to background transition pel. A key signal related to the percent distance of each such transition pel from these two endpoints in the UV plane is created. The composite output pel is formed from the current YUV transition pel value, by subtracting the selected full blue YUV from it, and adding insert video to it in proportion to the key signal. Three methods are disclosed to determine whether the UV value of a current pel, or alternatively the UV values of pels within a spatial neighborhood of the current pel, identify the current pel as a transition pel. If so, the methods select and store full foreground and full blue transition color value endpoints, so an appropriate key signal for the composite output pel can be generated.

摘要: An interface circuit for reading data to a programmable message display is provided wherein input power is reduced through sampling techniques and circuit complexity is reduced through multiplexing. Stable operation is providing in the presence of noise when the interface circuit is coupled to a device, such as a programmable controller. The circuit includes a plurality of input circuits which receive and condition a like plurality of parallel input data signals. A reference signal generating circuit is responsive to control signals from a microprocessor of the display to provide reference signals. A like plurality of comparator circuits are coupled to their responsive input circuits and to the reference signal generating circuit. Different banks of the comparator circuits sequentially compare the conditioned input signals with the reference signals. Isolation circuits are coupled to the outputs of the comparator circuits. In particular, each of the isolation circuits is coupled to the output of a single comparator circuit of each of the banks of comparator circuits to provide isolated output signals to the microprocessor which correspond to the level of the input data signals received by the input circuits.

摘要: Methods and systems for processing coverings such as leather hides and fabrics are provided. A system can include a worktable having a surface on which a covering is placeable. An imaging device can be positionable relative to the worktable. The imaging device can be configured to obtain an image of the covering on the surface of the worktable. A projector can be positionable relative to worktable. The projector can be configured to project an image onto the surface of the worktable and the covering on the surface of the worktable. A controller can be in communication with the imaging device and projector. The controller can be configured to correct images taken by the imaging device. The controller can also be configured to correct the images projected onto the surface of the worktable and the covering thereon. The controller can be configured to permit the showing of virtual markings on the covering placed on the surface of the worktable through an image projected thereon by the projector. The covering can then be marked or cut along the virtual markings.
