摘要: A medical device comprising a probe for measurement temperature data of tissue within a patient's body is proposed. The probe (2) comprises a flexible substrate (3) attached to a medical device core (5), the flexible substrate (3) comprising one or more thermopiles (7) and may furthermore comprise resistors for measuring an absolute temperature and heat sources for locally applying heat. The thermopiles can be processed directly on a flexible polymer carrier or, alternatively, on a silicon substrate and transferred to a flexible carrier (3) enabling both, a highly flexible substrate (3) and very small structural dimensions for the thermopiles (7) and, possibly, the resistors and heat sources. Accordingly, measurement of temperature gradients of tissue being in contact to the medical device may be performed at high resolution allowing reliable detection of temperature anomalies e.g. due to malign tissue.

摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus, a method and a computer program for determining a lipid-water ratio and a scattering parameter of a sample. In particular, the invention relates to an apparatus comprising a light source and a detector arranged to measure an optical parameter at various wavelengths, where the wavelengths are selected so that at two of the wavelengths the absorption coefficients for both water and lipids are substantially identical. This enables determination of a scattering parameter. A further measurement at a third wavelength enables determination of a water-lipid ratio. According to a specific embodiment, the light source and the detector are arranged in relation to an interventional device, so as to be able to examine a tissue in terms of lipid-water ratio and scattering during an intervention.

摘要: An acoustic probe (100, 300) includes an acoustic transducer (15, 444), and a plurality of variably-refracting acoustic lens elements (10, 210a, 210b, 442) coupled to the acoustic transducer. Each variably-refracting acoustic lens element has at least a pair of electrodes (150, 160) adapted to adjust at least one characteristic of the variably-refracting acoustic lens element in response to a selected voltage applied across the electrodes. In one embodiment, each variably-refracting acoustic lens element includes a cavity, first and second fluid media (141, 142) disposed within the cavity, and the pair of electrodes. The speed of sound of an acoustic wave in the first fluid medium is different than the speed of sound of the acoustic wave in the second fluid medium. The first and second fluid media are immiscible with respect to each other, and the first fluid medium has a substantially different electrical conductivity than the second fluid medium.

摘要: The disclosure is directed to a system for variably refracting, and is transparent for, ultrasound as well as for light. By choosing liquids with the right optical and acoustical properties, it is possible to variably refract (including focusing and deflecting or steering) ultrasound while not affecting the refraction of light, or vice versa. Two lenses in series, or preferably one lens, allow for variably refracting ultrasound and light.

摘要: An imaging system with two modalities has a catheter with an optical lens system situated at an end of the catheter and optically connected to optical guide. The lens system has a numerical aperture which is changeable between a first aperture and a second larger numerical aperture. The imaging system also has an imaging unit for optical imaging with the catheter. First and second imaging modalities are optically connectable with the optical lens system of the catheter. The imaging system can change between imaging in two modes: (1) the first numerical aperture of the optical lens system and the first imaging modality of the imaging unit, and (2) the second numerical aperture of the optical lens system and the second imaging modality of the imaging unit.

The sensor probe further includes a photodetector which detects a property of light which is composed of light in the optical guide that is reflected from the outcoupling surface of the optical guide and of light in the optical guide that is reflected from the overhanging part. The sensor probe also includes a hydrogel material having a property that changes when getting into contact with an environmental material and/or when detecting an environmental change. The hydrogel material is provided between the end surface of the elongated body and the overhanging part.
