For detecting the input variables, the input of the control unit is connected to a steering angle sensor for detecting a steering angle predetermined by the driver, to a sensor system for determining the yaw rate of the commercial vehicle, and to a first acceleration sensor for detecting the transverse acceleration of the commercial vehicle.

In the process, the differential threshold is set as a function of the averaged rate of increase of the individual pressures at the wheel brakes. Fault detection is carried out on the basis of a model, which takes the instantaneous operating state of the brake system into account.

The mass value is ascertained at least as a function of a comparison of the determined first driving-resistance or mass estimated value to the determined second driving-resistance or mass estimated value. A roadway slope is detected using the comparison, whereby an erroneous mass determination caused by the roadway slope is avoided.

While the braking torques and/or drive torques at the at least one wheel are being briefly generated and/or modified, and/or after they have been briefly generated and/or modified, a variable which quantitatively describes the wheel behavior is determined for that at least one wheel, as a function of the variable describing the wheel rotation speed of that wheel. As a function of that variable quantitatively describing the wheel behavior of that wheel, a determination is made as to whether there is a tilt tendency of the vehicle about a vehicle axis oriented in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.

The threaded spindle and nut are provided with ball bearing raceways for jointly accommodating load-transferring ball bearings inside the nut, and the nut has ball bearing routing parts for guiding out and introducing the ball bearings into the ball bearing raceways. In order to create a ball bearing helical gearing whose ball bearing guidance enables a uniform, low-noise operation of the ball bearing helical gearing, particularly when the threaded spindle is acted upon by lateral forces, it is provided that the nut comprising the ball bearing routing parts is, in its transition area into the ball bearing raceways, designed in such a manner that a fork structure of a gothic raceway profile of the ball bearing raceways is formed in this area at the height of a contact or pressure angle, and a contact surface of the ball bearing raceways of the threaded spindle with regard to the ball bearings that changes in an almost continuously progressive manner is ensured for a defined jolt-free entering and exiting of the ball bearings into and out of a load entry and load exit zone. The ball bearings are arranged in a closed chain over approximately two or more threads in the ball bearing raceways.
