Abstract: A vehicular rear backup vision system includes a rear backup camera and a display device including a video display screen disposed in an interior cabin of the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. Upon initial ignition on of the vehicle that commences a new ignition cycle of the vehicle, the rear backup camera is electrically powered. After engine startup of the vehicle, the vehicular rear backup vision system displays on the video display screen rear backup video images derived solely from image data captured by the rear backup camera no later than 2 seconds after the driver of the vehicle first shifts a vehicle transmission of the vehicle into reverse gear to commence a first backup event. The rear backup camera remains electrically powered at least until the first backup event is completed.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a forward viewing camera disposed at an in-cabin side of a windshield of a vehicle and viewing forward of the vehicle. Road curvature of a road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined responsive at least in part to processing by an image processor of image data captured by the camera. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, a traffic lane of the road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, another vehicle present on the road and forward of the vehicle may be detected. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, the system may determine that the detected other vehicle is travelling in a traffic lane to the left or to the right of the traffic lane along which the vehicle is traveling.

Abstract: A video display system for a vehicle includes a video display device disposed in the vehicle so as to be viewable by a driver of the vehicle. A camera is disposed at the vehicle and having an exterior field of view and operable to capture image data. A control includes a data processor. The control, responsive at least in part to processing by the data processor of captured image data, detects an object present exterior of the vehicle that is in the field of view of the camera, and determines if the detected object constitutes a hazardous condition. Responsive to determination of the hazardous condition, the control controls the video display device to automatically display an alert to the driver of the vehicle, with the alert including display of video images of the object that are derived from captured image data or a graphic overlay on displayed video images.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a plurality of cameras, a radar device and a central electronic control unit. The vehicular control system is operable to fuse image data captured by at least one of the cameras with radar data sensed by the radar device. The central electronic control unit is operable to at least partially control the vehicle. Threat recognition/evaluation by a threat recognizer/evaluator of the central electronic control unit and risk assessment by a risk assessor of the central electronic control unit is responsive, at least in part, to (i) image data captured by at least one of the cameras, (ii) radar data sensed by the radar device and (iii) map data associated with a current geographical location of the vehicle. The central electronic control unit, responsive at least in part to threat recognition/evaluation and risk assessment, controls braking of the equipped vehicle.

Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a rear backup camera and a display device including a video display screen. Within two seconds of shifting the vehicle transmission into reverse gear, the display device displays rear backup video images derived from captured image data. Rear backup video images derived from captured image data can be displayed after shifting out of reverse gear until a threshold condition is met. A user input is actuatable by the driver of the vehicle to change display of rear backup video images to display of other video images. Display of the other video images occurs after a delay period has elapsed since shifting into reverse gear. During the delay period and commencing when the vehicle transmission was shifted into reverse gear, only rear backup video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed by the video display screen.

Abstract: A park-aid system for a vehicle includes a forward-viewing color video camera and at least three other color video cameras, with a first one of the three other color video cameras having a field of view at the driver-side of the vehicle and a second one of the three other color video cameras having a field of view at the passenger-side of the vehicle. A video display screen is viewable by a driver of the vehicle. During a parking maneuver of the vehicle, images derived, at least in part, from image data captured by at least the forward-viewing camera are displayed by the video display screen to assist the driver in operating the vehicle. At least one indication may be provided to the driver of the vehicle during the parking maneuver.

Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a forward viewing camera. Responsive at least in part to processing by an image processor of image data captured by the forward viewing camera, at least one road characteristic of a road along which the vehicle is traveling is detected. Responsive at least in part to processing by the image processor of image data captured by the forward viewing camera, other vehicles exterior the equipped vehicle are detected. Responsive at least in part to processing by the image processor of image data captured by the forward viewing camera, road curvature of the road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined. Data derived from image data captured by the forward viewing camera may be wirelessly communicated from the vehicle to a remote data receiver located remote from the vehicle.

Abstract: A cabin monitoring system for a vehicle includes a video display screen disposed in a cabin of the vehicle so as to be viewable by a driver of the vehicle. A camera assembly is disposed at a ceiling of the cabin of the vehicle and includes a camera having an imager and a lens, with the camera having a field of view that encompasses a rear seat area of the vehicle. An illumination device is operable to illuminate the rear seat area encompassed by the field of view of the camera. The illumination device, when operated, illuminates the rear seat area and the camera captures image data representative of the illuminated rear seat area. The image data captured by the camera is provided to the video display screen for displaying video images for viewing by the driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes first, second, third and fourth cameras having respective forward, rearward, sideward and sideward fields of view. A video processor is operable to process second image data captured by the second or rearward viewing camera. A video display screen displays video images derived, at least in part, from captured second image data. The video processor includes an image processor operable for machine vision analysis of first image data captured by the first or forward viewing camera. During a reversing maneuver of the vehicle, the video display screen displays video images derived, at least in part, from captured second image data. During forward travel of the vehicle and responsive to the image processor processing captured first image data to detect a road sign ahead of the vehicle, an image or iconistic representation of the detected road sign is displayed by the video display screen.
