摘要: The present invention provides an analytical system comprising a sample management module. A pressure delivery assembly is configured to compress and deform a mixing chamber containing a sample preparation, and simultaneously open a plug of the mixing chamber to release the sample preparation. The system can be manufactured as a sample box combinable to a detector box, and is particularly convenient for patients to use at home, for example, screening colorectal cancer with their fecal sample.

摘要: A paper analytical device for detecting an analyte in a sample, and methods of fabricating and using the same. A paper analytical device may include laminated strips of a porous hydrophilic substrate and an adhesive layer. The laminated strips may be disposed on a hydrophobic backing with an air gap barrier between each laminated strip that is about 1 mm to about 5 mm in width and extends along the entire length of the laminated strip. 摘要: A portable, self-contained drug test kit for testing for the presence or absence of a drug has a housing having a hollow portion with a liquid solvent accessible from outside to enable introduction of a test solute therein. A lateral flow test strip is in user-selective fluid communication with the liquid solvent in the hollow portion. The lateral flow test strip is selectively moveable from a first position in which the lateral flow test strip is not in fluid communication with the liquid solvent in the hollow portion to a second position in which it is in fluid communication with the liquid solvent. When the lateral flow test strip is moved into the second position and the test solute is introduced into the hollow portion, the liquid solvent mixes with the test solute to form a test solution and thereby activate the lateral flow test strip.

摘要: A disposable cassette for detecting nucleic acids or performing other assays. The cassette can be inserted into a base station during use. The cassette has numerous features to ensure correct operation of the device under gravity, such as vent pockets for enabling the flow of sample fluid from one chamber to the next when the vent pocket is unsealed. The vent pockets have protrusions to help prevent accidental resealing. The cassette also can have a gasket to ensure free air movement between open vent pockets. A flexible circuit with patterned metallic electrical components disposed on a heat stable material can be in direct contact with fluid in the chambers and has resistive heating elements aligned with the vent pockets and the chambers. Recesses in the cassette channels or chambers can have structures such as ridges or grooves to direct fluid flow to enhance rehydration of lyophilized reagents disposed in the recess. Flow diverters in the chambers can reduce the flow velocity of the sample fluid and increase the effective fluid flow path length, enabling more accurate control of fluid flow in the cassette. The roof of each chamber can have a projection that prevents capillary fluid flow across the top of the chamber, thus reducing or preventing sequestration of newly resuspended reagent from the bulk of the reaction solution volume.
