    摘要: A process for the continuous production of a biodegradable polyester, wherea mixture of aliphatic dihydroxy compounds, aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acids or their liquid esters, and, optionally, further comonomers is mixed, without addition of a catalyst, to give a paste, and i) this mixture with at least a portion of the catalyst, is continuously esterified or, transesterified; ii) the transesterification or, esterification product obtained in i) is continuously precondensed with any remaining amount of catalyst to an intrinsic viscosity of from 20 to 70 cm3/g; iii) the product obtainable from ii) is continuously polycondensed to an intrinsic viscosity of from 60 to 170 cm3/g, and iv) the product obtainable from iii) is reacted continuously with a chain extender in a polyaddition reaction to an intrinsic viscosity of from 150 to 320 cm3/g. The invention further relates to biodegradable polyesters obtained_by this process.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the continuous production of a biodegradable polyester based on aliphatic or aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acids and on aliphatic dihydroxy compounds, wherea mixture composed of the aliphatic dihydroxy compounds, of the aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acids, and, if appropriate, of further comonomers (component C) is mixed, without addition of a catalyst, to give a paste, or, as an alternative, the liquid esters of the dicarboxylic acids are fed into the system, as also are the dihydroxy compound and, if appropriate, further comonomers, without addition of any catalyst, and i) in a first stage, this mixture, together with the entire amount or with a portion of the catalyst, is continuously esterified or, respectively, transesterified; ii) in a second stage, the transesterification or, respectively, esterification product obtained in i) is continuously precondensed if appropriate with the remaining amount of catalyst to an intrinsic viscosity of from 20 to 70 cm3/g to DIN 53728; iii) in a third stage, the product obtainable from ii) is continuously polycondensed to an intrinsic viscosity of from 60 to 170 cm3/g to DIN 53728, and iv) in a fourth stage, the product obtainable from iii) is reacted continuously with a chain extender D in a polyaddition reaction to an intrinsic viscosity of from 150 to 320 cm3/g to DIN 53728. The invention further relates to biodegradable polyesters which are accessible for the first time by this process.

    摘要: Novel resin products produced by reacting unique polycyclic, aromatic, polycarboxylic acid products with low molecular weight polyols display satisfactory toughness properties and good Barcol hardness values. The process for preparing these novel resin products first involves preparing an intimate, finely divided mixture comprising the acid product derived from the nitric acid oxidation of naturally occurring solid carbonaceous material, a roughly equivalent amount of a liquid polyol, and a suitable acid catalyst. The mixture is then subjected to a precure step which involves heating at temperatures between 80.degree. and 150.degree. C. for from about fifteen minutes to about four hours. The precured mixture may thereafter be subjected to suitable molding conditions at a temperature below about 220.degree. C.

    摘要: A polyester resin having a low intrinsic viscosity and suitable for use as a powdered resin is modified by being capped with organic acids. The resins are made from the reaction of diesters with diols with up to 30 mole percent of the diester being replaced with various diacids. The polyester is capped following the condensation reaction stage, but before any finishing stage. The polyester resins have an acid number of from 1 to 100 and allow greater flexibility in the type of acid functionality than previously available.

    摘要: An improved process for the preparation of a polyester resin that can be solubilized in water as formed, and, when partially cured is insoluble in, but permeable to, polymerizable monomers such as styrene which comprises admixing a mixture of polycarboxyl-affording substances with a polyhydroxyl-affording substance and heating the mixture in the temperature range of 300*-450*F. until a thin sample of the material cures at 392*F. in from about 10 to about 40 seconds. The method of binding glass fibers into a mass suitable for reinforced-fiber molding purposes which comprises the steps of treating fibrous glass with the resin solubilized in water to form a resin-fiberglass composite and partially curing said composite at a temperature above about 200*F. until a water-insoluble, styrene-insoluble but styrene permeable composite is formed.
