Abstract:
A metal cord is rubberized in situ by a rubber composition that includes a styrene-butadiene copolymer. The styrene-butadiene copolymer includes styrene units at a proportion of between 25% and 35% by weight, limits included, of a total weight of the styrene-butadiene copolymer. The styrene-butadiene copolymer also includes trans-1,4-bonds at a proportion of between 73% and 83% by weight, limits included, of a total weight of a butadiene part of the styrene-butadiene copolymer.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to the production of cables and can be used for reinforcing single-block constructions and other articles made of concrete. The purpose of the invention is to create a self-rectifying reinforcing member. The reinforcement cable comprises a central wire and layer-forming wires spirally wound around the same and having a periodical profile. A periodical profile is applied on the outer section of the surface of the layer-forming wires and is made in the form of inclined protrusions above the generatrix of the crimped surface of the cable. The sections of the surface of the layer-forming wires in contact with other wires are made in the form of spirally-arranged planar flats.
Abstract:
A sliding cable is provided that basically includes a cable main body and a mesh structural body. The cable main body is made of a plurality of steel wires bundled together. The mesh structural body is arranged on an outer surface of the cable main body.
Abstract:
A strata support system that provides support and balance to a rock mass and reacts to movement of the rock mass. The strata support system includes a borehole that is drilled into a surface of the rock mass. A resin is disposed in the borehole to secure a cable within the borehole. An anchor cable bolt assembly having a plurality of strands that are twisted together to form the cable is inserted into the borehole. At least one of the plurality of strands includes an interrupted outer surface that is defined by a plurality of spaced indentations. The plurality of spaced indentations are formed along the length of the strand and provide for a plurality of surface contours to enhance engagement of the anchor cable bolt with the resin.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to improve durability of a bead portion of a tire by optimizing a sectional shape and arrangement of a bead wire(s). The pneumatic tire comprises: a pair of bead portions having bead cores embedded therein, each bead core being constituted of plural bead wires extending in the tire circumferential direction; a pair of side wall portions extending from the bead portions on the outer side in the tire radial direction; a tread portion extending over the respective sidewall portions; and a carcass extending in a toroidal shape across the aforementioned portions and having respective end portions being turned up around the bead cores, wherein the bead wires each have complementary shape portions in a section in the tire widthwise direction, by which shape portions adjacent bead wires are complementarily engageable with each other.
Abstract:
A steel cord adapted for the reinforcement of elastomers includes: a core steel filament with a diameter dc and coated with a polymer, six intermediate steel filaments with a diameter di smaller than or equal to dc, the intermediate steel filaments being twisted around the core steel filament, ten to eleven outer steel filaments with a diameter do, smaller than or equal to di wherein these outer steel filaments are twisted around the intermediate steel filaments, and the outer steel filaments are preformed in order to allow rubber penetration inside the cord. The core steel filament, the intermediate steel filaments, and the outer steel filaments all have a tensile strength of at least 2600 MPa. The cord has an outer diameter D according to the following formula: D≦dc+2×di+2×do+0.1 mm, wherein all diameters are expressed in millimeters (mm).

Abstract:
A PC strand is formed by twisting peripheral wires made of deformed PC steel wires around a core, and allowing rust inhibitive material of thermoplastic resin to permeate into voids defined among the core and peripheral wires by use of an extruder. Since at least one of the core and peripheral wires is made of a deformed PC steel wire having an uneven outer surface, the thermoplastic resin can smoothly permeate deep into the inside of the PC strand.
Abstract:
A stranded product is formed from a central wire and a plurality of wires helically wound around the central wire, wherein each of the wires helically wound around the central wire has a small longitudinal groove which increases the area of contact between each of the outer wires and the core wire, thus significantly reducing the internal contact stresses within the strand to extend the fatigue life of the strand without significantly reducing the bending flexibility of the strand. A plurality of stranded products in accordance with the invention can be employed in a conventional manner to form ropes, cables and the like, having an extended service life.
Abstract:
A crush-resistant tube for a plastics packaged optical fibre (1, 2) is formed by helically stranding together five or more non-circular cross-section wires (3) which are created from circular cross-section wires during the stranding operation.
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for making a flexible tube comprising a plurality of helicoidal metal members in side-by-side relation. In the process, metal strips, shaped to the desired configuration, are twisted around their longitudinal axes to helicoidal shape, the twisting being sufficient to cause the shape to be retained if the strip is released. Thereafter, the so-shaped strip is bent around an axis extending in the width direction of the strip by an amount sufficient to cause the strip to have a radius substantially equal to the tube radius. The strips are then laid up, side-by-side into a tube. The apparatus comprises a rotatable cage carrying bobbins having the strips thereon, two pairs of preshaping rollers to produce the twist and the bend mounted for rotation with the cage, a mold for laying up the helicoidal strips, a guide element for the strips intermediate the rollers and the mold and a take-up bobbin or drum for winding up the tube as it leaves the mold.
