    摘要: A material processing apparatus includes a casing having a top and bottom and a plurality of sides defining a pyrolysis chamber for receiving and pyrolyzing feed materials therein into fluid materials and a mass of refractory material disposed upon the bottom of the casing and spaced below the top thereof and extending between its sides. The refractory mass includes an upper surface defining a bottom of the pyrolysis chamber and having an end spaced from a first one of the casing sides to define an ash residue collection cavity therebetween. The apparatus also includes a system of tunnels defined within the refractory mass being spaced below the upper surface thereof. The system of tunnels includes an inlet defined in the refractory mass at the end thereof and below the upper surface thereof and in communication with the cavity for receiving a flow of materials from the pyrolysis chamber into the system of tunnels and an outlet defined in a second one of the sides of the casing for discharging the flow of materials from the system of tunnels. The apparatus also includes elongated heater units mounted to sides of the casing and extending into and axially along selected ones of the tunnels in the system thereof.

    摘要: An improved method for processing an industrial sterilization agent utilized to sterilize medical instruments includes the use of a regenerative thermal oxidizer. The sterilization agent is removed from the sterilization chamber and directed into the combustion chamber with little chance for the sterilization agent to mix with air or any other source of oxygen. In this way, the present invention reduces the possibility of explosion of the sterilization agent prior to its being directed into the combustion chamber.

    摘要: A material processing apparatus includes a casing having a pair of outer and inner spaced walls forming an airtight vessel inside of the inner walls containing a heating chamber and a channel between the outer and inner walls surrounding the vessel for containing a flow of coolant fluid between the outer and inner walls. The apparatus also includes a plurality of elongated electric heater units extending in generally parallel relation to one another through the heating chamber and being operable for emitting heat radiation. The electric heating units are mounted to the casing and extend across the chamber in substantially vertical orientations. Also, a series of baffles extend across the chamber. The baffles are axially spaced from one another and disposed in alternating relation with the heater units.

    摘要: A material processing apparatus includes a casing having a pyrolysis chamber for receiving and pyrolyzing feed materials therein into fluid materials and a mass of refractory material contained in the casing upon the bottom thereof and spaced from the top thereof. The refractory mass extends between the opposite ends and sides of the casing and includes an upper surface defining a bottom of the pyrolysis chamber. The upper surface is defined in an inclined orientation extending between the opposite ends of the chamber. The refractory mass has an elongated cavity extending along one end of the casing and adjacent to a lower end of the upper inclined surface. An elongated residue collection pan is disposed in the cavity and is removable through an opening in a side of the casing. Elongated heating units are disposed in the pyrolysis chamber above and generally parallel to the cavity and upper inclined surface for producing heating therein to cause pyrolyzing of the feed materials into fluid materials.

    摘要: An incinerator having a first combustion chamber capable of receiving material to be incinerated, a second combustion chamber capable of receiving the flue gas, and a particulate extraction and containment system connecting the two is provided. Also provided is a method for incineration which involves combusting a material using a substoichiometric amount of oxygen so as to produce a flue gas, collecting the flue gas, cooling the flue gas, and combusting the flue gas using at least a stoichiometric amount of oxygen. The incinerator and method allow for the removal of toxins and toxin precursors prior to exposure to stoichiometric or greater levels of oxygen and to temperatures greater than 1000.degree. F. Moreover, the incinerator and method provide for the recycling of materials and a reduction of waste volume to a level below that which is currently obtainable.

    摘要: An apparatus for thermal processing of waste having organic and inorganic components comprises at least a treatment station, a cooling station and a treated material-removal station, and at least three crucibles. The treatment station is adapted to thermally treat the organic components and/or inorganic components located in a given one of the crucibles located at the treatment station. The so-treated components in this given crucible are adapted to then be cooled at the cooling station, before the treated components located in the given crucible are removed therefrom at the treated material-removal station. The three crucibles are mounted on a turntable so that the three crucibles are each at one of the stations, before synchronously all moving to each crucible's next station.
