Abstract: A plurality of internal queues that receives and stores therein packets and that outputs each of the stored packets is included. Then, a transmission side meter counter and a reception side meter counter acquire transmission/reception information on the packets that are stored in each of the internal queues. A control unit creates, on the basis of the transmission/reception information, flow groups to each of which one or a plurality of flows belongs and allocates the internal queues to the flow groups. A scheduler determines, on the basis of the transmission/reception information and previously determined priority of the internal queues, the order in which each of the internal queues is output.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a supervisory device in a network assigns different access points in the network to different access point groupings. Each of the different access point groupings uses a different network path to communicate with a given endpoint in the network. The supervisory device selects at least one of the access points in each of the different access point groupings for mapping to a virtual access point (VAP) for a node in the network as part of a VAP mapping. The supervisory device instructs the selected access points to form a VAP for the node. The node treats the access points in the VAP mapping as a single access point for purposes of communicating with the network.

Abstract: A solution is provided for controlling usage of one or more software programs on one or more mobile computing devices. A corresponding method comprises monitoring an indication of a position of each mobile computing device to determine a location area of the mobile computing device. The method comprises assigning each one of the software programs to a usage group. For each location area, the software programs of each software program type are assigned to the corresponding usage groups providing one or more usage characteristics that fulfill one or more usage requirements of each software program; this is performed according to one or more optimization criteria depending on one or more usage weights of each usage group. The method comprises enabling the usage of each software program according to the usage characteristics of the corresponding usage group.

Abstract: A bandwidth management system includes a plurality of queues respectively corresponding to a plurality of zones. An enqueuing module receives network traffic from one or more incoming network interfaces, determines a belonging zone to which the network traffic belongs, and enqueues the network traffic on a queue corresponding to the belonging zone. A dequeuing module selectively dequeues data from the queues and passes the data to one or more outgoing network interfaces. When dequeuing data from the queues the dequeuing module dequeues an amount of data from a selected queue, and the amount of data dequeued from the selected queue is determined according to user load of a zone to which the selected queue corresponds.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include monitoring, by a radio access network (RAN) orchestration function, impairments between a plurality of candidate locations interconnected by a transport network, wherein one or more network elements capable of performing one or more operations associated with a RAN are located at the plurality of candidate locations; determining a decomposition of one or more operations associated with the RAN into a plurality of sets of virtualized network functions (VNFs) to execute the operations; determining a distribution of the plurality of sets of VNFs among the one or more network elements associated with the RAN for one or more optimal locations of the plurality of candidate locations based, at least in part, on the monitored impairments; and instantiating the plurality of sets of VNFs at each of the one or more optimal locations.

Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein enable a more efficient allocation of one or more shared network resources amongst a plurality of client devices based on media content complexity and client device resource status in order to better manage perceptual playback quality. In some implementations, a method includes obtaining a plurality of resource constraint values associated with a plurality of client devices sharing a network resource, and jointly determining a respective encoding rate level selection and a corresponding resource allocation for each of the plurality of client devices based on a combination of one or more resource constraint values and the assessment of the respective perceptual quality level values, such that a combination of resulting quality levels satisfies a joint quality criterion.
