摘要: An apparatus and method for manufacturing a polymer-coated bias fabric are provided. The method includes the steps of: drawing a first strip material from a first supply reel; coating a polymeric layer on the first material strip; supplying a second material strip onto the polymeric layer coated on the first material strip; pressing the second material strip onto the first polymeric layer coated on the first material strip; and drying the first polymeric layer coated between the first and the second material strips to form a first stage product. The second material strip is supplied on top of the polymeric layer deposited on the first material strip at the speed substantially equivalent to that of the first material strip.

摘要: A method of forming a continuous composite structure includes encapsulating solid additive particles with a first reactive liquid resin forming material and migrating part of the mixture through a porous blanket to form a continuous resin matrix within the blanket with adhesive outer surfaces. A thin coating of a second preselected resin forming material which substantially cures immediately upon application is applied over one major adhesive upper surface of the matrix/blanket while allowing an area of the adhesive surface to remain exposed along one edge of the upper surface thereof. A plurality of preselected flexible lengths of the coated matrix/blanket are individually positioned successively in an overlapping orientation with the exposed adhesive area of the upper surface of the adjoining positioned length tightly affixed to the adhesive lower surface of the succeeding length to form a continuous composite structure. Also, the composite structure and apparatus for producing same.

摘要: A laminate for bedding, padding upholstering and like applications by feeding an indeterminate length of a first material along a predetermined first path of travel from a source of the first material to a downstream assembly area. Feeding an indeterminate length of second material along a predetermined second path of travel from a source of the second material to the downstream assembly area. Depositing a multiplicity of substantially yieldable cushioning materials upon an upper surface of one of the first and second indeterminate lengths of material during the feeding thereof between the respective sources and the assembly area. Thereafter, sandwiching the cushioning materials between the indeterminate lengths of first and second materials to form a laminate therefrom, and rolling the laminate into a roll. The cushioning materials are foam latex and/or down and the first and second lengths of material are polyester fiber material and/or convoluted foam.

摘要: Apparatus and method for forming a laminate comprising a relatively rigid material having an inner surface with at least one portion thereof comprising a central body portion and wherein the central body portion of a relatively flexible material, preferably fluid impervious, is secured to the central body portion of the relatively rigid material and the relatively flexible material has opposite edge portions not secured to other portions of the inner surface and to carton blanks formed therefrom. In some instances strips of another relatively flexible material are secured to the opposite edge portions but are not secured to the inner surface.

摘要: A paste supply tube in a molding compound manufacturing apparatus includes first and second paste supply tubes extending parallel or substantially parallel to each other and in a direction widthwise of a pair of carrier films, each of the first and second paste supply tubes having upstream and downstream ends opposite to each other with respect to the direction of supply of a resinous paste material thereinto. While the downstream ends of the respective first and second paste supply tubes are closed, the first and second paste supply tubes are supported with the upstream and downstream ends of the first paste supply tube neighboring the downstream and upstream ends of the second paste supply tube, respectively, with respect to a direction perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of each paste supply tube. Each of the first and second paste supply tubes has at least one aperture defined therein for discharge of the resinous paste material therethrough so that the resinous paste material can be uniformly dispensed in a direction widthwise of the carrier film. The aperture may be in the form of either at least one axial row of holes having respective diameters that progressively vary or an axially extending slit having a width that progressively varies.

摘要: A method of forming a continuous structure includes the steps of preselecting a liquid reactive resin forming material, a particulate solid additive material and a porous blanket. The additive particles are mixed with the liquid resin forming material substantially continuously in a proportion significantly greater than that of the liquid resin forming material. Substantially all of the additive particles are encapsulated with the liquid resin forming material to a preselected thickness. A pool of the resulting mixture is formed on the blanket. The blanket is advanced at a rate sufficient to create movement of the additive particles within the pool and maintain the additive particles in suspension. Part of the liquid resin forming material is migrated through the blanket substantially uniformly prior to gelling of the liquid resin forming material to form a continuous resin matrix within the blanket. Also, apparatus forming the structure as well as the structure itself.

摘要: A method and apparatus for producing light-weight construction panels having a cementitious core layer surfaced with a layer of reinforcing fabric bonded to the two faces of the core includes the use of slurry applicator having a supporting member and a doctor in addition to a moving carrier for the slurry coated fabric. The edges of the panel also are covered with the fabric and may be open mesh edges. Cementitious slurry, for example, portland cement slurry, is applied to the fabric by means of a supporting member over which the fabric is drawn and a doctor means adjustably mounted above the supporting member. The supporting member is of a non-base-reactive material such as polypropylene or stainless steel; the use of such a supporting member permits better application of the slurry to the fabric before placement of the slurry coated fabric on the moving carrier.
