摘要： A computing system detects that a media presentation device such as a television is in a content-selection mode in which a user is likely to select video content to be presented by the media presentation device, at a time when the media presentation device is not using a video-on-demand service. In response, the computing system causes the media presentation device to present a prompt for user approval to have the media presentation device present video content of the video-on-demand service. By presenting this prompt at a time when the media presentation device is in a content-selection mode and is not using the video-on-demand service, the disclosed mechanism can thereby help foster use of the video-on-demand service.

摘要： A transmitting terminal can transmit a content held by itself to a specific receiving terminal having no email software as if using a mailer. The transmitting terminal (10) and the receiving terminal (20) are connected to a delivery server (30) via a network (4). The delivery server (30) comprises: a database (36) for registering the device ID that specifies the receiving terminal (20); a content storage (39) for temporarily storing a content transmitted from the transmitting terminal (10); and table (33, 37) for managing contents separately on a per device ID basis of the receiving terminal. The delivery server (30), when receiving a request from the receiving terminal (20), refers to the tables (33, 27) and transmits to the receiving terminal (20) a content, the transmission destination of which corresponds to the device ID of the receiving terminal (20).

In one aspect, the described techniques may include streaming a segment of primary content, for example, by a reduce capability client device, such as a mobile device or tablet. The device may receive information indicative of a break in the streaming of the primary content. The device may play secondary content based on receiving the information indicative of the break. The device may determine when a next segment of the primary content is available, and begin streaming the next segment of the primary content upon detecting that the second segment of the primary content is available.

The decoder may be configured to receive a key associated with entitlement information, and transmit the entitlement information over a network. The encoder may be configured to receive content from content providers, and to encode the content to create IP-compatible content, with access restrictions based on entitlement. The network entitlement handler may be configured to receive a request for requested content from the decoder; receive the access-restricted content (including the requested content) from the encoder; and transmit the requested content over the network to the decoder using IP, when the decoder is entitled to receive the requested content.

In some embodiments, a method for verifying video streams is provided, the method comprising: receiving, at a user device, a request to present a video that is associated with a video archive, wherein the video archive includes a file list, a signature corresponding to the file list, video metadata, a signature corresponding to the video metadata, and at least one encrypted video stream corresponding to the video, and wherein the file list indicates a plurality of files that are to be included in the video archive; verifying the signature corresponding to the file list; in response to determining that the signature corresponding to the file list has been verified, determining whether the plurality of files indicated in the file list are included in the video archive; in response to determining that the plurality of files indicated in the file list are included in the video archive, verifying the signature corresponding to the video metadata; in response to determining that the signature corresponding to the video metadata has been verified, requesting a decryption key corresponding to the video stream; in response to receiving the decryption key, decrypting the encrypted video stream; and causing the decrypted video stream to be presented on the user device.
