Abstract:
An apparatus for performing computer-based operations includes a computer system which includes at least one computer. A printer is connected to the computer system and is capable of printing with visible ink and invisible ink to generate a sheet of media printed with visible information and invisible depictions of coded data on receipt of initial print instructions from the computer system. The computer system is programmed to generate the invisible depictions such that the coded data represents instructions capable of being executed by the computer. A sensor is capable of detecting the invisible depictions and is configured to generate a signal carrying said coded data. The sensor is connected to the computer system, which is configured to decode the coded data and to execute the instructions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a printer with a gravity-fed print media path. The printer includes a print media supply station for storing print media. A print engine station includes a pair of print engines, and is arranged to receive print media from the print media supply so that duplex printing by the print engines can be effected upon the received print media. A binding assembly station is configured to apply adhesive along an edge of each sheet of printed print media and compile the print media into a bound stack. A receptacle station is configured to receive the bound stack. The printer can be oriented so that the print media sequentially travels between the stations with the force of gravity.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to hiding codes in input data such as still imagery and motion pictures. One claim recites: embedding an N-bit code with a source signal, N being at least one. The embedding proceeds, for each bit of the N-bit code, according to the following: mapping the bit to a portion of the source signal; changing values of at least two data values associated with the portion in accordance with the bit. The act of changing embeds the N-bit code in a manner that is generally imperceptible to a human observer of the source signal. A related claim recites that the portion includes a data value, and the above method further includes changing the value of the data value in accordance with said bit of the code, an amount of the changing being adjusted based on the value. Of course, other claims and combinations are provided as well.
Abstract:
A system for recording and retrieving note taking on a notebook form is provided. The system has a printer for printing information relating to note taking and a plurality of coded tags substantially simultaneously on a surface to generate the form, and a processor for receiving interaction data generated by a sensing device through sensing interaction with the tags printed on the form during the note taking. Each coded tag encodes data on an identity of the form and a location of that tag on the form. The interaction data is generated to include data on the form identity and at least one of a position and a movement of the sensing device relative to the sensed tags. The processor records or retrieves the note taking by identifying, from the interaction data, at least one parameter relating to the note taking.
Abstract:
A digital imaging device and method for embedding and retrieving of information in digital images are provided. The digital imaging device includes a capture module for capturing an image and creating a digital image file; a locational information module for determining a location of the device when capturing the image; and a processing module for associating the location information to the digital image file. The device further includes a user verification module for verifying an identity of a user of the device at a time of image capture and an encryption module for encrypting the digital image file and associated information. The method provides for securing information associated with the digital images and for verifying activities of a user.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to digital watermarking systems and methods. In a first implementation, so-called movie studio rough-cuts are watermarked to provide a forensic tracking clue or to provide security for distributed rough-cuts. In another implementation, a watermark is determined for a compressed video object. The watermark is compressed as an object and the watermarked object is then associated with the compressed video object. The two separate objects are provided to a rendering device, which after decompressing both objects, embeds the watermark in the video prior to rendering.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to controlling use of audio or image content (e.g., which may comprise video). In one claim, a method is provided including: receiving information, the information having been obtained from analyzing data representing audio elements or image picture elements to derive the information there from, accessing a database with the information to obtain permitted usage rights for audio or image content associated with the data; and providing the information to a remote device to allow control of the audio or image content in accordance with the permitted usage rights. Of course, other combinations are provided and claimed as well.
Abstract:
A system for delivering a greeting card using a form, the form including information relating to at least one interactive element associated with the delivery of a greeting card and coded data relating to the at least one interactive element. The coded data is coincident with the information so that when a sensing device is placed in an operative position relative to the interactive element, the sensing device senses at least some of the coded data and generates indicating data using the sensed coded data. The indicating data is received by a computer system which identifies, using the indicating data, the at least one interactive element and deliveres, using the at least one interactive element, a greeting card to a recipient address.
Abstract:
Provided is a glue wheel arrangement for a printer having an integral page binding arrangement. The glue wheel arrangement is configured to apply glue to an edge of a sheet of paper passing through the printer. The glue wheel arrangement includes a glue wheel and a partially hollow axle connected to the glue wheel, said axle having a rotating coupling for a glue supply hose from a glue cartridge of the printer. The arrangement also includes a housing assembly arranged on the wheel and configured to expose the wheel when urged towards the sheet. A media feed assembly feeds the sheet of paper from the printer past the glue wheel to the binding arrangement.
Abstract:
A system and method for generating a signed hardcopy document and authentication thereof is provided. A data representation including digital data is recorded from a hardcopy document. The digital data is compressed using a compression scheme including one of low-fidelity compression and symbol-based compression. An authentication token is generated from the compressed digital data. The authentication token is encoded. A signed hardcopy document including both the encoded authentication token and the data representation is printed.
