Abstract:
An exemplary sensor system for a fuel transport vehicle can comprise a fuel marker sensor positioned between a fuel storage chamber of the vehicle and an access valve for the fuel storage chamber of the vehicle. The fuel marker sensor can be configured to measure one or more characteristics of one or more fuel markers present in the fuel adjacent the sensor, such as when the marked fuel is unloaded at a retail station. The one or more characteristics can comprise concentration and/or identity of the one or more fuel markers in the fuel. Based on the measured characteristics of the one or more fuel markers, the sensor system can identify the fuel and/or can determine whether the fuel has been adulterated after the marked fuel was last measured, such as when the marked fuel was loaded into the vehicle.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for producing a jet fuel composition from a feedstock including a natural oil. The methods include reacting the feedstock with a low-weight olefin in the presence of a metathesis catalyst under conditions sufficient to form a metathesized product. The methods further include hydrogenating the metathesized product under conditions sufficient to form a jet fuel composition.
Abstract:
A compound having formula (I) wherein R1 and R2 independently represent C1-C6 alkyl; R3 is C1-C6 alkyl; R4 is C1-C18 alkyl or C4-C18 heteroalkyl; m is zero, one, two or three; n is one, two or three; and j, k, p, q, r and s independently are zero, one or two; provided that at least one of j, k, p, q, r and s is not zero.
Abstract:
We provide an alkylation process, comprising: separating and recycling a hydrogen gas and a hydrogen chloride from an offgas of a hydrogenation reactor; wherein the hydrogen gas is recycled to the hydrogenation reactor; and wherein the hydrogen chloride is recycled to an alkylation reactor. We also provide an alkylation process unit for performing this process.
Abstract:
Processes and apparatuses for washing a spent ion exchange bed and for treating biomass-derived pyrolysis oil are provided herein. An exemplary process for washing a spent ion exchange bed employed in purification of biomass-derived pyrolysis oil includes the step of providing a ion-depleted pyrolysis oil stream having an original oxygen content. The ion-depleted pyrolysis oil stream is partially hydrotreated to reduce the oxygen content thereof, thereby producing a partially hydrotreated pyrolysis oil stream having a residual oxygen content that is less than the original oxygen content. At least a portion of the partially hydrotreated pyrolysis oil stream is passed through the spent ion exchange bed. Water is passed through the spent ion exchange bed after passing at least the portion of the partially hydrotreated pyrolysis oil stream therethrough.
Abstract:
Higher mixed alcohol formulas can be used as a fuel additive in petroleum-based hydrocarbon liquid fuels, synthetic or bio-derived gasoline, diesel fuels, jet fuel, aviation gasoline, heating oil, bunker oil, coal, petroleum coke, heavy crude oil, bitumen, or as a neat fuel in and of itself. The mixed alcohol formulations can contain a blend of C1-C5 alcohols, with more C3-C5 alcohols than C1-C2 alcohols, or alternatively more C3-C8 alcohols, than C1-C2 alcohols, in order to further boost energy content and reduce emissions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to upgraded pyrolysis products, hydroconversion processes for upgrading products obtained from hydrocarbon pyrolysis, equipment useful for such processes. In particular the invention provides methods for reducing coke fouling in such equipment.
Abstract:
God told Ezekiel 4:12 and 15, to cook over animal and human feces. These same substances with their energy producing properties can replace our current less environmental and human friendly means of energy. Certainly, since our bodies consume plants and animals as a means of survival. How much more friendlier can it get? After the consumption of plants and animals the food go through a physical purifying process and the residuals are expelled via the intestines producing a more plentiful fossil fuel called feces. These substances can prove to be human, animal and environmental friendly due to the double (sewer and refineries) cleansing and refining process. Feces are certainly cost effective due to the reduction in processing and manufacturing and little if any need for addition equipment due to facilities and equipment already being utilized.
Abstract:
In an embodiment of the present invention, a renewable energy fuel is prepared by a process including the steps of: a) providing a renewable energy feedstock; b) providing an alcohol; c) providing a catalyst; d) mixing (a), (b), and (c) to form a blend; and e) homogenizing the blend at a pressure greater than 400 kilogram-force per square centimeter (Kg/cm2).
