    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for licensing of a hardware component connected to a real time data processing system, comprising, the steps of providing a software component enabling the use of the hardware component with the real time data processing system, which is executable on the real time data processing system, verifying a license for the hardware component in the software component, and activating the hardware component to make it usable to the real time data processing system upon successful verification of the license for the hardware component in the software component. The present invention also provides a real time data processing system connected to at least one HW component subject to licensing, whereby the real time data processing system is adapted to perform the above method.
