Abstract: Described embodiments include an antenna system and method. The antenna system includes at least two surface scattering antenna segments. Each segment includes a respective electromagnetic waveguide structure, and a respective plurality of electromagnetic wave scattering elements. The wave scattering elements are distributed along the waveguide structure, have an inter-element spacing substantially less than a free-space wavelength of a highest operating frequency of the antenna segment, have a respective activatable electromagnetic response to a propagating guided wave, and are operable in combination to produce a controllable radiation pattern. A gain definition circuit defines a series of at least two radiation patterns selected to facilitate a convergence on an antenna radiation pattern that maximizes a radiation performance metric. An antenna controller sequentially establishes each radiation pattern. A receiver receives the desired field of view signal and the undesired field of view signal.

Abstract: Positional applicator devices and methods are for application of stretchable electronics relative to subsurface features of an object. In some embodiments, a positional applicator device for applying a stretchable electronic device to a surface of an object includes: a holder for a stretchable electronic device; a signal emitter positioned to direct an emitted signal toward a surface of an object; a receiver positioned to detect a return signal from the surface of the object; circuitry operably connected to the signal emitter and the receiver, the circuitry configured to compare the emitted signal with the return signal in order to identify surface and subsurface features of the object; circuitry configured to compare the identified features with a map of surface and subsurface features of the object stored in memory; and a positioner, the positioner structured to apply the stretchable electronic device to a position on the surface of the object.

Abstract: An identification device includes, but is not limited to, a deformable substrate configured to conform to a skin surface of a body portion of a healthcare provider; a sensor assembly coupled to the deformable substrate, the sensor assembly including one or more identity sensors configured to generate one or more identity sense signals associated with at least one physical characteristic of the healthcare provider; circuitry configured to compare the one or more identity sense signals generated by the sensor assembly to reference data indicative of one or more physical characteristics associated with an identity; and a reporter configured to generate one or more communication signals associated with a comparison of the one or more identity sense signals generated by the sensor assembly to reference data indicative of one or more physical characteristics associated with an identity of at least one individual.

Abstract: A reconfigurable unmanned aircraft system is disclosed. A system and method for configuring a reconfigurable unmanned aircraft and system and method for operation and management of a reconfigurable unmanned aircraft in an airspace are also disclosed. The aircraft is selectively reconfigurable to modify flight characteristics. The aircraft comprises a set of rotors. The position of at least one rotor relative to the base can be modified by at least one of translation of the rotor relative to the boom, pivoting of the boom relative to the base, and translation of the boom relative to the base; so that flight characteristics can be modified by configuration of position of at least one rotor relative to the base. A method of configuring an aircraft having a set of rotors on a mission to carry a payload comprises the steps of determining properties of the payload including at least mass properties, determining the manner in which the payload will be coupled to the aircraft, determining configuration for each of the rotors in the set of rotors at least partially in consideration of the properties of the payload, and positioning the set of rotors in the configuration for the aircraft to perform the mission.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods associated with determining velocity and/or acceleration information using ultrasound. A system may include one or more ultrasonic transmitters and/or receivers. An ultrasonic transmitter may be configured to transmit ultrasound into a region bounded by one or more surfaces. The ultrasonic receiver may detect a Doppler shift of reflected ultrasound to determine an acceleration and/or velocity associated with an object. The velocity and/or acceleration information may be utilized to modify the state of a gaming system, entertainment system, infotainment system, and/or other device. The velocity and/or acceleration date may be used in combination with a mapping or positioning system that generates positional data associated with the objects.

Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring usage of a telemedicine system are described. A monitoring system at a hospital or other central monitoring location provides for communication between personnel at a monitoring location (e.g. a medical care provider) and patient and/or caregiver at a patient location (e.g., the patient's home) via a telemedicine system. The telemedicine system may provide for audiovisual or other communication between the monitoring location and patient location, which may be in combination with medical monitoring or treatment provided with one or more associated article of medical equipment. The medical support monitoring system tracks the amount and type of usage of telepresence system and/or associated medical equipment. Tracked information regarding system usage may be used for various purposes, including billing, quality assurance, data analytics, including population studies of usage patterns, for example. Usage information may be linked to identity of patient, caregiver, or equipment used, or anonymized, depending upon the intended use.

Abstract: A concealed radar imaging system includes a visible light mirror, a radar device positioned behind the visible light mirror, and a processing circuit coupled to the radar device. The visible light mirror includes a reflective layer configured to reflect visible light, and allow a radar signal to pass therethrough. The radar device is configured to transmit the radar signal, receive a reflection of the radar signal, and generate reflection data based on the reflected radar signal. The processing circuit is configured to control operation of the radar device, receive the reflection data from the radar device, and generate imaging data based on the transmitted radar signal and the reflection data.
