    摘要: A vinylidene cyanide copolymer obtained by copolymerizing vinyldene cyanide represented by formula (I) ##STR1## and a vinyl compound represented by formula (II) ##STR2## wherein Z represents a hydrogen atom or a saturated hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms; when Z is a hydrogen atom, R represents C.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 COO--, wherein n represents 0 or an integer of from 4 to 9; and when Z is a saturated hydrocarbon group, R represents CH.sub.3 COO-- or a group having a benzene ring. The copolymer is excellent in transparency and provides an electret exhibiting excellent pyroelectricity or piezoelectricity upon polarization.

    摘要: In the plating for electrodeposition of aluminum using a mixed molten salt bath comprising an aluminum halide and a quaternary ammonium salt, the mixed molten salt bath comprises from 20 to 80 mol % of the aluminum halide and from 20 to 80 mol % of a 1-alkyl- or 1,3-dialkylimidazolium halide, provided that the alkyl group has 1 to 12 carbon atoms, by the use of which the plating can be carried out at a high current density of not less than 30 A/dm.sup.2 without generation of burnt deposits, which has been difficult to carry out using the conventional molten salt bath. Addition of a halide of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, or an organic solvent, to the above plating bath can improve conductivity and also enhance uniform electrodeposition performance.

    摘要: Orthocresol or a mixture of orthocresol and paracresol and an aldehyde compound or a derivative thereof are subjected to polycondensation in a solvent selected from an aliphatic alcohol having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, a glycol ether having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, benzyl alcohol and an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, in the presence of an acid catalyst, to obtain linear and high molecular weight orthocresol-novolak resins or orthocresol/paracresol random copolymerized novolak resins which have a high softening point of 145.degree. C. or higher and a high number average molecular weight of 1500 or more and which are highly soluble in alcohols and ketones and are highly compatible with resins.
