Abstract: A protected sample collection media for use in a sample collection device includes a piece of porous sample collection media having a first major side and an opposing second major side; and a protective sheath fully covering the first major side and the second major side. The protective sheath has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is removable without removing the second portion. The second portion forms a tab constructed to be gripped by hand. The protected sample collection media may be part of a system including a sample collection device. The system may be provided as a kit including instructions for use of the kit.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to sample collection devices and sample collection and testing devices. The devices described herein includes a housing defining a fluid channel from a first portion to a second portion. The devices further include a porous sample collection media disposed within the housing and in fluid communication with the fluid channel. The devices further include a fluid inlet port disposed in fluid communication with the porous sample collection media. The fluid inlet port is configured to direct a test fluid onto the porous sample collection media. The sample collection device further includes an assay configured to receive a fluid that was incident on the porous sample collection media (and eluent) and test that eluent for the presence (or absence) of a pathogen or virus.

Abstract: A polymeric film including a major surface having a plurality of intersecting extended structures is described. For at least a majority of the structures in the plurality of extended structures: each structure extends along a length of the structure, has an average width along a direction transverse to the length and generally along the first major surface, and has an average height along a direction generally perpendicular to the first major surface; and the average width of the structure may be in a range of 1 to 200 micrometers, the average height of the structure may be in a range of 1 to 200 micrometers, and the length may be at least 3 times the average width. The extended structures may be randomly or pseudorandomly oriented and may be formed by microreplicating a surface of a paper.

Abstract: An optical adhesive including a viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer and a cured polymer layer immediately adjacent the viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer is described. The viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer a refractive index less than 1.570 and the cured polymer layer has a refractive index of at least 1.570. An interface between the viscoelastic or elastomeric adhesive layer and the cured polymer layer is structured. The cured polymer layer has a storage modulus of at least 2000 MPa at 20° C. and a glass transition temperature of no more than 65° C.

Abstract: A recycling optical cavity is defined at least by first and second optical films and is configured to receive a test material therein. The test material is configured to emit at least a second light having a second wavelength when irradiated with a first light having a first wavelength. For at least one of s- and p-polarized incident lights incident in an incident plane, and at the first and second wavelengths: at a first incident angle, the first optical film has respective optical transmittances T11(θ1) and T12(θ1), and the second optical film has respective optical transmittances T21(θ1) and T22(θ1), wherein T11(θ1)>T12(θ1), T21(θ1), T22(θ1); and at a second incident angle, the first optical film has respective optical transmittances T11(θ2) and T12(θ2), and the second optical film has respective optical transmittances T21(θ2) and T22(θ2), wherein T21(θ2)>T11(θ2), T12(θ2), T22(θ2).

Abstract: Curable ink compositions include at least one aromatic (meth)acrylate, at least one multifunctional (meth)acrylate with heteroaromatic groups, fused aromatic groups, heteroalkylene groups, or a group containing both heteroalkylene and aromatic groups, and a photoinitiator. The curable ink composition is Inkjet printable, having a viscosity of 30 centipoise or less at a temperature of from room temperature to 35° C., and is free from solvents. The ink composition, when printed and cured has a refractive index of 1.55 or greater, and is optically clear. The cured ink composition, when cured to a thickness of from 1-16 micrometers, has a surface roughness of less than or equal to 5 nanometers.

Abstract: Transfer tapes include a releasing substrate and an adhesive layer adjacent to the surface of the releasing substrate. The adhesive layer includes a at least one siloxane-based copolymer, and at least one siloxane tackifying resin. The adhesive layer is a pressure sensitive adhesive at room temperature and is convertible into a ceramic-like layer by bake-out at a temperature of from 100-500°.
