A hydraulic vehicle brake equipped with a parking brake device, in particular for motor vehicles, including a brake housing in which a hydraulic service pressure chamber is delimited by a brake piston, wherein the parking brake device acts on the brake piston and, in the applied condition, can be locked by a locking device, and an energy accumulator cooperating with the brake piston is equipped with at least one integrated spring element. In order to realize a simple and low-cost parking brake function that complies with legal requirements, according to the invention, the parking brake device is operable by a pressure that is introduced into the service pressure chamber and enables charging the energy accumulator.

An equalizer of a radio receiver for generating reliability information (q) that specifies probabilities of a received data symbol (z) being based on a particular transmitted value. The reliability information (q) is determined for each received data symbol (z) by evaluating trellis state transitions through use of a particular metric, both trellis-based symbols and decision-feedback symbols being evaluated. The decision-feedback symbols used are state-independent symbols that have previously been decided by means of a hard decision.

Described is a method of treating or coating homogeneously at least a portion of the surface of a material selected from metallic materials having a thickness of less than 100 &mgr;m and/or polymeric materials. The method of the present invention comprises exposing at least a portion of the surface of the material to an atmospheric plasma generated by an indirect plasmatron. In the method of the present invention, the surface of the material may undergo at least one of an increase in surface tension, a surface grafting, a surface cleaning and a surface sterilization.

An electrical motor activation method for an electric motor including a rotor, connected to a motor shaft, and a stator having brushes. The stator comprises multiple commutator laminations for the commutation of windings disposed on the rotor and is activated by a pulsed or linearly controllable power source. The motor shaft is connected to a radially driven load, in particular a pump, which has a nonlinear torque curve via a motor revolution. A waviness signal is obtained from a voltage potential applied to the motor and/or from the motor current and rotor position information is obtained from the curve of said waviness signal.

A method for detecting a fault of an operating switch connected to an evaluating unit by at least one signal. The switch having at least a first switch circuit for initiating a vehicle function. A signal that specifies the switch position is sensed by the evaluating unit. The first switch circuit is connected to a first potential of the vehicle electrical system and to the signal line to form a first contact branch. The first switch circuit is bridged by a diode device in the non-conducting direction with respect to the first potential, the evaluating unit generates a test voltage, which is greater than the first potential, the test voltage is applied to the signal line, and, the potential being applied to the signal line of the first contact branch is evaluated by means of the evaluating unit in order to detect a fault.

A trailer device for driving stabilization of vehicle combinations is provided. In order to design a device for driving stabilization of passenger vehicle trailers in a cost-effective and simple manner, a brake system for braking the trailer by an overrun brake and for stability regulation is designed so as to have separating valves, switching valves, inlet and outlet valves and a pressure build-up pump. A stabilizing coupling is also connected by means of a second pressure medium pump to actuators which can vary the clamping force of the stabilizing coupling between the trailer and tractor vehicle if the second pressure medium pump conveys pressure medium from the storage tank into or out of the actuators.

An apparatus and method for executing a Viterbi algorithm includes initial state registers, at least one transition register, and an adder/subtracter network. Furthermore, evaluation units and a selection unit are provided for switching the apparatus between a first operating mode and a second operating mode. The selection unit can select different evaluation units depending on the selected operating mode.
