Abstract:
Various audiovisual presentation arrangements are described. In some embodiments, a headset is configured to output audio to a user. A television receiver may be configured to output a plurality of video feeds for simultaneous presentation by a display device. Each video feed of the plurality of video feeds may be displayed in a different display region of the display device. The television receiver may receive a command indicative of a video feed of the plurality of videos feeds that the user is viewing on the display device. Based on the command, the television receiver may output, to the headset, an audio feed that corresponds to the video feed the user is viewing.
Abstract:
A system enables two different users to independently view and listen to two completely different programs being displayed concurrently on the same display (e.g., in a split screen mode), or on multiple displays that are visible by different users, by sending the audio signal of one of the programs being displayed to the headphone device of the user currently looking at that program being displayed on the display. In one embodiment, the headphone device includes a camera mounted on the headphone device that is positioned to detect and/or track eye movements/positions or other movements of the user wearing the headphone device to determine which program that user is currently looking at.
Abstract:
The present technology relates to systems and methods for control of home automation activity based on user characteristics. More specifically, the present technology relates to using a home automation system to control home automation activity based on user characteristics and weighting home automation sensors based on priority. Example embodiments include receiving an input including user preferences, assigning a weight to HVAC sensors using the preferences, generating a profile using the set of preferences and the weights, transmitting the profile to an HVAC system to run the HVAC system, receiving HVAC data recorded by the HVAC sensors, updating the HVAC profile, and transmitting the updated HVAC profile to be displayed on a television display device.
Abstract:
Embodiments are directed towards extracting an informational banner from a first source and combining it with video content from a second source. The informational banner may be a news ticker, a scoreboard, an informational window of a program, etc. The informational banner is selected or identified from the first source using one or more different automated or user-selectable methods. The extracted informational banner is combined with video content from the second source at a display location that is automatically determined or selected by a user. The combined content is then provided to a display device for presentation to the user.
Abstract:
A user's set top box detects the ringing of a telephone, mobile device or other type of audible notification of an incoming contact and, in response, sends a command causing a current audio level of the television programming or other media currently being played to decrease such that the audible notification can be heard by the user. A device silencing manager on the set top box may detect the audible notification occurring by the sound waves of the audible notification from the mobile device picked up by a microphone of the receiving device. Additionally or alternatively, a device silencing manager on the set top box may wirelessly receive, either directly or indirectly from the mobile device, an electronic notification of the audible notification.
Abstract:
A wireless headset receives audio data wirelessly from a television receiver and outputs audio to the user through earphones. The wireless headset includes an inertial sensor that detects an orientation of the user's head. If the orientation of the user's head indicates that the user is sleeping, then wireless headset turns off the wireless receiver, thereby saving battery life.
Abstract:
The present technology relates to systems and methods for control of home automation activity based on user preferences. More specifically, the present technology relates to using a home automation system to control home automation activity based on user preferences. Example embodiments include receiving an input from a user including a set of preferences, generating a user profile using the set of preferences, receiving data indicating that a mobile device has moved from a first location to a second location, transmitting the user profile to the mobile device for application to the home automation system, receiving data indicating that the mobile device has been at the second location for a period of time, comparing the period of time to a predetermined threshold period of time, and applying the home automation settings associated with the second location to the home automation system.
Abstract:
A remote control having an ultraviolet light emitting device for disinfecting the outer surfaces of the remote control is disclosed. In particular, the remote control may include an ultraviolet transmissive housing and internal ultraviolet emitting light emitting diodes. The ultraviolet transmissive housing allows the light from the internally mounted ultraviolet emitters to pass through the remote control's housing and kill bacteria, viruses, and other micro-organisms on the outer surface of the remote control by employing methods to automate safe and effective operations of ultraviolet light.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to systems and methods for identifying a person using a home automation system, and using data collected from a television distribution system and data collected by sensors in a home automation system to identify a person. An example method or system includes receiving television programming from a television service provider, detecting target data in the television programming associated with a virtual person, identifying characteristics of the virtual person, detecting home automation data associated with a local person, identifying characteristics of the local person, comparing the characteristics of the virtual person and the characteristics of the local person, and transmitting a portion of the target data and a portion of the home automation data to an electronic device for displaying.
Abstract:
Systems and methods executable by a home based media distribution system for preserving the continuity of a video transmission following a WiFi disconnect include transmitting a media stream via a wireless access point associated with a wireless client; receiving a disconnect report from the access point; in response to the disconnect report, diverting the media stream to a digital video recorder (DVR); receiving a reconnect report from the access point; and automatically resuming the media stream from the point when the disconnect occurred.
