摘要: Visualization and treatment of tissue regions via percutaneous access methods and devices are described herein. The system may include a deployment catheter and an expandable imaging hood. In use, the hood may be introduced from outside the patient body through a percutaneous incision and advanced through a subxiphoid pathway, for example, to the heart where entry may be accomplished via an incision through the left atrial appendage. Once within the heart, the hood can be advanced to any chamber to visualize and/or treat tissue by placing the hood against the tissue to be imaged and pumping translucent fluids into the hood until the fluid displaces any blood, thereby leaving a clear region of tissue to be imaged via an imaging element in the deployment catheter. Additionally, any number of therapeutic tools can also be passed through the deployment catheter and into the imaging hood for treating the tissue of interest.

摘要: Left atrial access apparatus and methods are described herein. Different parameters, such as oxygen saturation difference, between the left and right atrial chambers is utilized to guide a needle or catheter into a desired position within the heart. Various sensing elements can be utilized to detect the physiological parameter difference, such as oxygen levels, in the left atrium. The sensor can be carried by the needle, at its tip or along its body, and can measure the physiological parameter levels contained in the blood, fluid, or tissue.

摘要: A device for cutting tissue in a human body may include an elongate, hollow shaft having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a bundle of flexible wires slidably disposed within at least a portion of the shaft and having a proximal end and a distal end, and an actuator coupled with the proximal portion of the shaft and the proximal end of the bundle of wires. The distal end of the bundle may be configured to facilitate cutting of tissue, and the wires of the bundle may be at least partially free to move, relative to one another, to allow a cross-sectional shape of the bundle to differ along a length from the proximal to the distal end. The actuator may be configured to move the wires back and forth through the hollow shaft to cause the distal ends of the wires to cut tissue.

摘要: Tissue visualization and manipulation systems are described herein. Such a system may include a deployment catheter and an attached imaging hood deployable into an expanded configuration. In use, the imaging hood is placed against or adjacent to a region of tissue to be imaged in a body lumen that is normally filled with an opaque bodily fluid such as blood. A translucent or transparent fluid, such as saline, can be pumped into the imaging hood until the fluid displaces any blood, thereby leaving a clear region of tissue to be imaged via an imaging element in the deployment catheter. Additionally, any number of therapeutic tools can also be passed through the deployment catheter and into the imaging hood for treating the tissue region of interest.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for transmitting vibrations via an electronic and/or transducer assembly through a tooth or teeth are disclosed herein. The assembly may be attached, adhered, or otherwise embedded into or upon a removable oral appliance to form a hearing aid assembly. Such an oral appliance may be a custom-made device. The electronic and transducer assembly may receive incoming sounds either directly or through a receiver to process and amplify the signals and transmit the processed sounds via a vibrating transducer element coupled to a tooth or other bone structure, such as the maxillary, mandibular, or palatine bone structure.

摘要: Flexible tubular liner coating systems are described herein. A method for coating and forming the flexible tubular inner liner may comprise, in one example, coating at least a first surface of a flexible elongate strip having a first and a second edge and then bringing the first and second edges of the flexible elongate strip into proximity of one another. Once the edges are brought towards one another, they may be joined such that a flexible tubular liner is formed having the coated first surface formed as an inner surface of the flexible tubular liner. 摘要: Methods and apparatus for cryo-therapy are disclosed herein. This includes a hollow guidewire disposed within a catheter having helical loops contacting tissue. A coolant delivery tube disposed within can have a coolant delivered from a proximal end into the guidewire lumen. The coolant flows back proximally through the guidewire while cooling the guidewire surface and cooling or cryogenically ablating the contacting tissue. To minimize guidewire exposure to surrounding fluids or tissue, insulative barriers can be attached to the guidewire. A coolant delivery tube and return lumen can be integrated from a single extrusion in various configurations. Expandable balloons can also be used to expand the loops of the guidewire to contact the tissue. Also, helical loops with a coolant delivery tube or stem disposed longitudinally within the loops can be used and the loops can also have a variable collapsible cooling region.
