Self-healing coatings incorporate microcapsules of about 60-150 microns diameter that contain film formers and dust suppression compounds suitable for controlling spalling of lead dust, for example. In one embodiment, a primer paint is mixed with these microcapsules and applied by brushing or rolling. After the coating has cured, any physical compromise of the coating results in microcapsules bursting to release liquid that fills and seals the compromised volume. The microcapsule contents protect the underlying substrate from damage and repair some of the outer coating. In one application, embodiments of these self-healing coatings seal existing lead-based paint for suppression of lead dust. In another embodiment, microcapsules are provided separately to enhance commercially available products. For example, if a paint formulation is known a priori, specifically configured microcapsules, packaged separately from the paint and designed for use with the paint formulation, are added to the paint just prior to application.

The present invention presents a novel application of a wavelet-based multiscale method in a nanomachining process chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) of wafer fabrication. The invention involves identification of delamination defects of low-k dielectric layers by analyzing the nonstationary acoustic emission (AE) signal collected during copper damascene (Cu-low k) CMP processes. An offline strategy and a moving window-based strategy for online implementation of the wavelet monitoring approach are developed.

A cathodic protection system for a tank has an anode which comprises a long extendible coil of wire of a valve metal coated with a suitable electrically conductive ceramic material. The coil provides reduced electrolyte resistance and power consumption. At installation the coil is extended to provide the anode length desired for the particular tank. Each end of the anode can have insulation to provide the desired dielectric standoff. The insulation of the lower end can be in the form of a the weighted element to stabilize the position of the anode.

A non-inverting high speed low level gate to Schottky transistor logic translator circuit includes a first input circuit adapted for receiving a first input signal and having its outputs connected to a first node and a second node. A first Schottky transistor is provided which has its base connected to the first node and to a voltage supply potential via a first resistor, its emitter connected to the second node and its collector connected to a third node and to the supply potential via a second resistor. A second Schottky transistor is provided which has its base coupled to the third node, its collector connected to the supply potential via a third resistor and its emitter connected to a fourth node. An upper output transistor has its base connected to the fourth node and to a ground potential via a fourth resistor, its collector connected to the supply potential via a fifth resistor and its emitter connected to an output circuit terminal. A lower output transistor has its base connected to the second node, its collector connected to the output circuit terminal and its emitter connected to the ground potential. Second and third circuits formed of low level NAND gates are adapted for receiving test input signals and have their outputs connected to the first and second nodes for testing purposes. A fourth input circuit formed of low level NAND gates is adapted for receiving a second input signal and has its outputs connected to the second node and the third node for turning off the lower output and upper output transistors so as to maintain the output circuit terminal in high impedance state.

The subject invention concerns materials and methods for detecting nucleic acid sequences. One aspect of the invention concerns a silicon-based “biochip” comprising nucleic acid immobilized thereon. In one embodiment, the silicon comprises microcavities. The nucleic acid to be assayed for the presence of one or more target nucleic acid sequences is immobilized on the silicon. A nucleic acid, such as an oligonucleotide probe, having a sequence substantially complementary to the target nucleic acid sequence can be used to detect the immobilized nucleic acid on the silicon. If the nucleic acid used for detection hybridizes with a target nucleic acid sequence, the hybridized sequences can be detected directly or indirectly. In an exemplified embodiment, the oligonucleotide probe can be labeled with a detectable label, for example, a fluorescent molecule. The subject invention also concerns methods for detecting a target nucleic acid using a silicon-based biochip of the invention.

This invention discloses composition and manufacturing processes of a toxicity free botanical drug formulation for curative treatment of chronic diseases. It is manufactured from plants Crinum asiaticum and Crocus sativus. This drug was administered to human volunteers by oral and intranasal routes in effective amount for an effective time period. Effective amount and effective time of administration varies from one human volunteer to another depending upon age, body weight, length of disease, severity of disease, type of the disease. In vitro experiments show that this botanical drug causes proliferation and differentiation of stem cells.

The invention provides, in one aspect, a method of searching an RDF triples data store of the type in which the triples are maintained in accord with a first storage schema. The method includes inputting a first query specifying RDF triples that are to be identified in the data store. That first query assumes either (i) that the triples are stored in a schema-less manner (i.e., with no storage schema) or (ii) that the triples are maintained in accord with a second storage schema that differs from the first. The method further includes generating, from the first query, a second query that specifies those same RDF triples, yet, that reflects the first storage schema. That second query can be applied to the RDF triples data store in order to identify and/or retrieve the desired data.
