Abstract:
For the separation, removal, isolation, purification, characterization, identification or quantification of Factor VIII, von Willebrand's Factor or a protein that is a analogue of either, an affinity adsorbent is used that is a compound of formula (II) wherein one X is N and the other is N, C—Cl or C—CN; A is a support matrix, optionally linked to the triazine ring by a spacer; Y is O, S or NR2; Z is O, S or N—R3; R2 and R3 are each H, C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 hydroxyalkyl, benzyl or &bgr;-phenylethyl; B and W are each an optionally substituted hydrocarbon linkage containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms; D is H, OH or a primary amino, secondary amino, tertiary amino, quaternary ammonium, imidazole, guanidino or amidino group; or B-D is —CHCOOH—(CH2)3-4—NH2; and R7 is a group bearing a positive charge at neutral pH.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a chromatography ligand defined by the following formula R1—R2—N(R3)—R4—R5 wherein R1 is a substituted or non-substituted phenyl group; R2 is a hydrocarbon chain comprising 0-4 carbon atoms; R3 is a hydrocarbon chain comprising 1-3 carbon atoms; R4 is a hydrocarbon chain comprising 1-5 carbon atoms; and R5 is OH or H. The invention also comprises a separation matrix, comprising the described ligands coupled to a porous support, such as particles or a membrane. The ligand and matrix according to the invention is useful for purification of biomolecules or organic compounds, such as proteins, polypeptides, DNA etc. An advantageous use according to the invention is the purification of antibodies.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the purification of antibodies from one or more impurities in a liquid, which process comprises contacting said liquid with a first chromatography resin comprised of a support to which multi-modal ligands have been immobilised to adsorb the antibodies to the resin, wherein each multi-modal ligand comprises at least one cation-exchanging group and at least one aromatic or heteroaromatic ring system; adding an eluent to release the antibodies from the resin; and contacting the eluate so obtained with a second chromatography resin. In one embodiment, the ring-forming atoms of the aromatic or heteroaromatic entity are selected from the group consisting of C, S and O, and the cation exchanging group is a weak cation exchanger.
Abstract:
A composition and process are described that provide for selective capture of targeted materials, including metals and chemical targets. The composition includes an activated carbon scaffold that is chemically modified to include ligands with a high affinity for selective capture of metals and chemical targets. The invention finds use, e.g., as heavy metal sorbents, as catalyst supports, in analytical applications such as ion chromatography, and in devices such as analytical instruments and chemical sensors.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of separating antibodies from other compound(s) in a liquid sample, wherein a mobile phase comprising said sample is contacted with a multi-modal separation matrix to adsorb undesired compounds while the antibodies remain free in the liquid, wherein the multi-modal separation matrix comprises first groups, which are capable of interacting with negatively charged sites of the target compounds, and second groups, which are capable of at least one interaction other than charge-charge interaction with said target compounds. The invention also relates to a chromatography column packed with the above-described multi-modal separation matrix and a filter having such multi-modal groups adsorbed to its surface.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical isomer separating filler having separating ability/separating characteristics different from those of conventional optical isomer separating fillers, which is capable of separating an optical isomer which cannot be separated by conventional fillers. Specifically disclosed is an optical isomer separating filler wherein a polysaccharide derivative is chemically bonded onto a support. This optical isomer separating filler is characterized in that the halogen content in the filler is 3.0 to 5.0%.
Abstract:
Novel di- and tripodal compounds useful as chelators, intermediates for their production and a method for treating an aqueous solution to remove trivalent metal ions are presented.
Abstract:
This invention provides methods of retentate chromatography for resolving analytes in a sample. The methods involve adsorbing the analytes to a substrate under a plurality of different selectivity conditions, and detecting the analytes retained on the substrate by desorption spectrometry. The methods are useful in biology and medicine, including clinical diagnostics and drug discovery.

Abstract:
The present invention provides novel, polymeric supports, methods of making, and methods of using the supports, that have a fluorinated, amidated surface. The supports include polymeric microbeads, thin layers or membranes, plates, monoliths and the like. The supports are useful as packing materials for normal phase, reverse phase, and size exclusion chromatography, and provide high speed separation of analytes with excellent resolution. The fluorinated, amidated surface may include a composition comprising a plurality of repeating units, for example, having the following structure:
