Abstract:
A novel conjugate of a support material and an oligomer or polymer of a saccharide that is linked to the support material via urea linkages, and in which the oligomers or polymers are cross-linked via urea linkages provides a valuable stationary phase for chromatography. It is particularly valuable as a chiral stationary phase in enantiomeric separations and enantiomeric analysis.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for stabilizing and preserving water soluble solid chemical used in erosion feeders for sanitizing water. Outside ambient air is forced through the chemical stored in a feeder chamber. Depending on the temperature of outside ambient air, the air may be heated before being introduced into the feeder.
Abstract:
Particulate sorbent compositions consisting essentially of zinc ferrite, nickel and an inorganic binder, wherein the zinc ferrite and nickel of reduced valence, are provided for the desulfurization of a feedstream of cracked-gasoline or diesel fuels in a desulfurization zone by a process which comprises contacting of such feedstreams in a desulfurization zone followed by separation of the resulting low sulfur-containing stream and sulfurized sorbent and thereafter regenerating and activating the separated sorbent by reduction thereof before recycle of same to the desulfurization zone.
Abstract:
This invention provides methods and apparatus for performing microanalytic and microsynthetic analyses and procedures. Specifically, the invention provides a microsystem platform for use with a micromanipulation device to manipulate the platform by rotation, thereby utilizing the centripetal force resulting from rotation of the platform to motivate fluid movement through microchannels embedded in the microplatform. The microsystem platforms of the invention are also provided having microfluidics components, resistive heating elements, temperature sensing elements, mixing structures, capillary and sacrificial valves, and methods for using these microsystems platforms for performing biological, enzymatic, immunological and chemical assays.
Abstract:
A chemical absorbent comprises a hydrated mixture of a major proportion of a pharmaceutically acceptable hydroxide of a Group II metal and a minor proportion of silica, the chemical absorbent being substantially free of Group I metal ions. The chemical absorbent is particularly useful in low flow or closed circuit anaesthesia, and is advantageous in that it does not react with volatile anaesthetic agents in such a way as to cause the build up of toxic substances within an anaesthetic breathing circuit.
Abstract:
A monolith sorbent which defines a plurality of open-ended channels and comprises a reduced-valence promoter metal component and zinc oxide can be employed to desulfurize sulfur-containing fluids such as cracked-gasoline or diesel fuel.
Abstract:
An integrated fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) and desulfurization system for processing hydrocarbon-containing fluids. The integrated system employs a cracking/desulfurization unit having a reactor, a regenerator, and a reducer. A mixture of solid FCC catalyst particulates and solid sulfur sorbent particulates are circulated through the reactor, regenerator, and reducer to provide for substantially continuous cracking and desulfurization of the hydrocarbon-containing fluid, as well as substantially continuous regeneration of both the FCC catalyst and the sulfur sorbent.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel class of shaped bodies containing metal-organic frameworks. Said metal-organic frameworks comprise at least one metal ion and at least one at least bidentate organic compound and contain at least one type of micro- and mesopores or micro- or mesopores. Said shaped bodies comprise at least one metal-organic framework material and may optionally contain further substances, in particular at least one supporting material.
Abstract:
Bismuth- and phosphorus-containing naphtha reforming catalysts, methods of making such catalysts, and a naphtha reforming process using such catalysts.
Abstract:
A water softener employs a vessel, a distributor with a manifold body associated to said vessel and a valve control device. A control unit programs operation of the softener. An actuator unit has a cylinder divided into a first chamber and a second chamber. The actuator unit is adapted to move a spool to define different flow ways, for water. The first chamber communicates directly with a water inlet pipe, and the second chamber communicates with the inlet pipe through a valve and an outlet.
