摘要： Aqueous copolymer dispersions suitable for use in the manufacture of adhesives or as binding agents or as coating substances are produced by the emulsion polymerization of from 1 to 50% by weight of ethylene and from 99 to 50% by weight of vinyl monomers. With the process of the invention, in which, as vinyl monomers, vinyl chloride and, if desired, other ethylenically-unsaturated monomers, for example esters, are used, a higher ethylene content in the copolymer can be obtained at a lower pressure than hitherto. For this purpose, the greater part of the vinyl monomers is metered in and, in addition, an inert organic substance is used.

摘要： A process for the preparation of finely-divided aqueous copolymer dispersions with a solids content of 10 to 70% by weight, based on the dispersion, comprising emulsion polymerizing (a) 1 to 50% by weight of ethylene and (b) 99 to 50% by weight of at least two ethylenically unsaturated comonomers in the presence of a free-radial initiator and at least one member of the group consisting of emulsifier and a protective colloid and optionally present conventional adjuvants, the ethylenically unsaturataed comonomers being (b1) 79.5 to 99.5% by weight of vinyl chloride, (b2) 0 to 15% by weight of ethylenically unsaturated oil-soluble monomers, (b3) 0.5 to 10% by weight of ethylenically unsaturated, functional, water-soluble monomers and (b4) 0 to 5% by weight of oil-soluble monomers monoethylenically unsaturated and containing functional groups or polyethylenically unsaturated and mixtures thereof with the proviso that the monomers of (b2) and (b4) are copolymerizable with (a) and (b1), the comonomers being initially present in 1 to 40% by weight and the content of the water-soluble monomers being 1 to 35% by weight of the comonomers phase initially present and the rest of component (b) being added as an aqueous emulsion during polymerization and the polymerization is effected at 0.degree. to 120.degree. C. with an ethylene pressure of 10 to 150 bar which is built up at the latest by the point in time at which polymerization of the initial material is complete.

摘要： Stabilized aqueous dispersions of vinyl chloride polymer having at least 25% by weight of vinyl chloride units in the polymer and having K values of between 20 and 80, having added as a stabilizing agent 0.3-6% by weight of substances selected from the group of compounds according to the general formula ##STR1## wherein n has the meaning of from 0 to 2 or water-soluble salts thereof. The invention also relates to a process of producing the stabilized products by adding the stabilizing agent after polymerization in aqueous dispersion, and to the use of the stabilized dispersions in binders, coating compositions, paints, adhesives, textile auxiliaries and paper-coating compositions.

摘要： A novel process for the preparation of a readily dispersible, pourable dispersion powder comprising emulsion polymerizing in the presence of a free radial initiator a mixture of 1 to 50% by weight of ethylene and 99 to 50% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated comonomer phase comprising at least one member of the group consisting of (a) 60 to 100% by weight of vinyl chloride, (b) 0 to 40% by weight of monoethylically unsaturated, oil-soluble monomers, (c) 0 to 10% by weight of monoethylenically unsaturated water-soluble monomers having functional groups and (d) 0 to 5% by weight of oil-soluble monomers that are monoethylenically unsaturated and have functional groups or are multiple ethylenically unsaturated and optionally a protective colloid and/or emulsifier at an ethylene pressure of 10 to 150 bar to obtain an aqueous dispersion of a vinyl chloride-ethyelene copolymer, optionally adding to the aqueous dispersion (e) 0 to 40% by weight, based on the VCE-polymer, of at least one water-soluble substance having a T.sub.g .gtoreq.60.degree. C., (f) 0 to 1% by weight, based on the VCE-polymer, of an antifoaming agent, and (g) 0 to 30% by weight, based on the total weight of polymer constituents, of a finely divided antiblocking agent and spray drying or freeze drying the aqueous dispersion to obtain the readily redispersible, pourable powder of a vinyl chloride-ethylene copolymer and the powder produced by the said process and improved coatings, paints, glues and adhesives containing the said redispersible powder.

摘要： This invention presents to the art novel heat curable adhesive systems and laminates bonded by the adhesive system. The heat curable adhesive system comprises a heat curable adhesive composition which is a dispersion of a specific polyester, a polyvinylchloride which is or includes a carboxylated polyvinyl chloride and a polyepoxide and a curing agent for the adhesive composition. Curing of the adhesive composition can be effected at relatively low activation temperatures which provides distinct advantages in preparing laminates particularly those involving thin sheets of polymeric material bonded to metal sheet materials.

摘要： There is provided a curable anaerobic pressure sensitive adhesive composition, a mixture of a curable anaerobic system and a high molecular weight polymer system. The mixture which may include a tackifier and other functional additives constitutes a pressure sensitive adhesive and exhibits elastomeric properties. There is also provided in the composition an initiator systemnecessary to permit curing of the anaerobic pressure sensitive composition upon activation by the exclusion of oxygen. One or more accelerators for cure may also be provided.In one embodiment a component of the catalyst system may be either absent and provided later or latently present in microspheres which upon rupture will enhance the curing operation.
