Abstract:
A thermal imaging system wherein an infared transmitting lens forms an image of an object from infared rays emitted by the object and projects the image on a film of liquid crystal material having a thermally responsive color spectrum. The film of liquid crystal material is heat biased to the characteristic temperature range at which the material exhibits thermally sensitive optical scattering properties to accentuate the thermally evoked image.
Abstract:
Methods for evaluating micrometastases in a tissue region of a subject are described. The methods include administering to the subject a detectably effective amount of a tumor-targeted photoactivatable immunoconjugate; allowing a sufficient amount of time for the tumor-targeted photoactivatable immunoconjugate to enter micrometastases in the tissue region; illuminating the tumor-targeted photoactivatable immunoconjugate; obtaining an image of the tissue region of the subject using a fluorescent imaging device, and evaluating the micrometastases in the tissue region by conducting algorithmic analysis of the image. Methods of treating micrometastases in a tissue region of a subject are also described.

A color identifying apparatus for identifying the color of a reaction surface which has caused a color reaction with a gas to be specified, includes a reference data storage that stores a plurality of associated sets of reference color information represented by the difference between one and the remaining other two of signal intensities of R, G, B signals of RGB bitmap images of a reaction surface which has caused a color reaction with a gas, and identifying information for identifying the reaction surface, an image capturing unit for capturing an image of the reaction surface and generating RGB bitmap images of the reaction surface, an arithmetic unit for generating color information represented by the difference between one and the remaining other two signal intensities of R, G, B signals from the RGB bitmap images generated by the image capturing unit, and an output unit for outputting the identifying information.
Abstract:
The invention relates to embodiments of an analysis system and to a method for analyzing a sample on an analytical test element, with the analysis system comprising a test element receptacle for receiving and positioning a test element in an analysis position. In an exemplary embodiment, the test element receptacle contains a guide part and a lock part, the guide part having means for guiding a test element into and out of the analysis position, the lock part comprising a frame and a bolt element, which frame and bolt element are connected to one another by a hinge. The bolt element can be pivoted about the hinge between a first position and a second position with respect to the frame. The bolt element comprises a latching lug for engaging in a recess in test element when the bolt element is in the first position and when the test element is positioned in the analysis position.
Abstract:
A chemical exposure indication device is disclosed. The device is removably attachable to a structure and includes a substrate having a first surface and a second surface and an indicating layer overlying the first substrate surface. The indicating layer includes a coating material that is chemically reactive with a pre-determined chemical compound that is known to degrade the structure. When the coating material is exposed to that corrosive compound in a pre-determined level associated with degradation of a metallic structure, the coating material provides a visual indication of the presence of the corrosive compound.
Abstract:
A portable chemical analytical apparatus includes a piezoelectric dispenser that deposits chemical(s) on a test swipe having a base; a chemically treated pad containing the swiped sample positioned in a white zone above the base; and a tab attached to one side of the base. The apparatus includes a heater to warm the test swipe to a predetermined temperature; a clamp to secure the test swipe to the heater; one or more pumps to dispense one or more chemicals onto the test swipe from a disposable cartridge; a fan to remove chemical vapors rising a predetermined distance from the test swipe; and a camera to capture an image of the test swipe for un-biased automated analysis, and displayed on an LCD screen.
Abstract:
A method for quantitatively sensing, using an indicator system based on diffusion in space and time of a reaction front, for determining and reporting the prevailing concentration or exposure history of an analyte in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical monitoring for the state of quality, for ripeness indication in fruit, for monitoring environments for concentrations of sanitisers, pollutants and nutrients, for monitoring the residual life of filters, and for monitoring stream flows.
Abstract:
A method for determining at least one of an effluent concentration profile, a breakthrough time and a filter cartridge recommendation includes receiving at least one input parameter, determining at least one of the effluent concentration profile, the breakthrough time and the filter cartridge recommendation based on the input parameter, and graphically displaying at least one of the effluent concentration profile, the breakthrough time, and the filter cartridge recommendation. The effluent concentration profile includes a plot of a concentration of a chemical species over a period of time. The breakthrough time includes a time at which a predetermined concentration of the chemical species passes through a filter cartridge.
