    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a graphitic sheet is used to obtain the graphitic sheet with similar characteristics to graphene. The method includes forming an octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) layer on a substrate to obtain a composite. The composite is annealed at 250-400° C. for 30-90 minutes, forming the graphitic sheet on the substrate via self-assembly of octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) in the OTS layer. The annealed composite is immersed in water, followed by being sonicated for 2 minutes with a frequency of 40 kHz and a power output of 200 W, to separate the graphitic sheet from the substrate.

    Abstract: To provide a fluorinated ether compound, a fluorinated ether composition and a coating liquid that are able to form a surface layer which is excellent in water/oil repellency, abrasion resistance, fingerprint stain removability, lubricity and outer appearance, and an article having such a surface layer. A fluorinated ether compound represented by A1-O—(Rf1O)m1-Q1-[C(O)N(R1)]p1—R11—C[—R12—SiR13n1X13-n1]3, wherein A1 is a C1-20 perfluoroalkyl group; Rf1 is a fluoroalkylene group having no branched structure; m1 is an integer from 2 to 210; Q1 is a single bond or a fluoroalkylene group having no branched structure; R1 is a hydrogen atom, etc.; p1 is 0 or 1; R11 is a single bond, an alkylene group, etc.; R12 is an alkylene group, etc.; R13 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, etc.; X1 is a hydrolyzable group; and n1 is an integer of from 0 to 2.

    Abstract: Provided is a method of forming an antifouling coating film including the steps of [1] preparing a colored antifouling paint containing a prescribed Si-containing hydrolyzable resin and a color pigment such that a coating film having a target dry film thickness T completely hides a surface of an object to be coated, the colored antifouling paint has a color difference ΔE1 between the coating film having the thickness T and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 0.8 T, at least 2.0, and preferably the colored antifouling paint has a color difference ΔE2 between the coating film having the thickness T and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 1.2 T, less than 1, and [2] coating a surface of the object with the colored antifouling paint until the surface of the object is completely hidden by the coating film formed from the colored antifouling paint.

    Abstract: The present invention proposes highly practical curable resin compositions for use in water based paints, which contain no, or much less organic solvent when compared with current organic solvent based paints, and which produce painted surfaces which have excellent curability and weather resistant properties, as well as excellent resistance to solvents, chemicals and water. These curable resin compositions include a compound combining both epoxy and hydrolyzable silyl groups, and a water based product obtained by dispersing or dissolving in water, a tertiary amino vinyl polymer, a vinyl polymer containing both tertiary amino and acidic groups, or an acidic vinyl polymer, which has been either partially or completely neutralized by an acidic or basic compound.
