Abstract: A method for manufacturing a graphitic sheet is used to obtain the graphitic sheet with similar characteristics to graphene. The method includes forming an octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) layer on a substrate to obtain a composite. The composite is annealed at 250-400° C. for 30-90 minutes, forming the graphitic sheet on the substrate via self-assembly of octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) in the OTS layer. The annealed composite is immersed in water, followed by being sonicated for 2 minutes with a frequency of 40 kHz and a power output of 200 W, to separate the graphitic sheet from the substrate.

Abstract: A composition forming an insulating layer is described, whereby a binder based on an alkoxysilane-functionalized polymer carries the alkoxy-functionalized silane group, containing water and an insulation layer-forming additive. The composition according to the invention results in a relatively high expansion rate, enabling coatings to be applied to achieve the layer thickness required for the respective fire resistance duration in a simple and rapid manner, whereby the layer thickness is reduced to a minimum but offers significant insulating effect. The composition according to the invention is particularly suitable for fire protection, especially for the coating of steel components, such as columns, beams, frame members, in order to increase the fire resistance duration.

Abstract: The invention described herein generally pertains to a composition that includes a silyl-terminated polymer having silyl groups linked to a polymer backbone via triazole. The silyl-terminated polymer is a reaction product of a functionalized polymer backbone and a functionalized silane. The polymer backbone includes a first functional group, which may be one of an azide or an alkyne. The functionalized silane includes a second functional group may also be one of an azide or an alkyne, but is also different from the first functional group. The functionalized polymer backbone is reacted with the functionalized silane in the presence of a metal catalyst.

Abstract: Provided is a method of forming an antifouling coating film including the steps of [1] preparing a colored antifouling paint containing a prescribed Si-containing hydrolyzable resin and a color pigment such that a coating film having a target dry film thickness T completely hides a surface of an object to be coated, the colored antifouling paint has a color difference ΔE1 between the coating film having the thickness T and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 0.8 T, at least 2.0, and preferably the colored antifouling paint has a color difference ΔE2 between the coating film having the thickness T and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 1.2 T, less than 1, and [2] coating a surface of the object with the colored antifouling paint until the surface of the object is completely hidden by the coating film formed from the colored antifouling paint.

Abstract: Curable compositions capable of giving a cured article excellent in weatherability and flam retardancy. (1) One of the curable compositions comprises an organic polymer having at least one crosslinkable hydrolysable silyl group and phyllosilicate. It has enhanced weatherability due to incorporation of the phyllosilicate, and has further enhanced weatherability because the bleeding of an ultraviolet absober and a light stabilizer is inhibited. (2) The other composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a urethane resin, epoxy resin, and/or modified polysulfide resin and 0.1 to 100 parts of weight of a phyllosilicate. It has enhanced weatherability due to incorporation of phyllosilicate, and has further enhanced weatherability because the bleeding of an ultraviolet absorber and a light stabilizer is inhibited.
