Abstract:
An automatic sliding door system for vehicles to operate opening and closing movements of a sliding door of a vehicle automatically and safely from a driver's seat as well as outside of the vehicle, comprises a guide rail affixed to the body so that the sliding door can be guided along the rail by sending wires firmly connected to the door by an electric motor, an operating device consisting of two parts, one being mounted near the driver's seat and another being mounted inside the body adjacent to the sliding door, a door lock releasing device mechanically or electrically connecting a door lock of the sliding door at one end and the operating device at another end through a coupling which is joint when the door is closed but separated when the door is opened, and a control device connected to the operating device to control movements of the sliding door in accordance with operation of the operating device.
Abstract:
A door-closing hinge comprising an upper barrel with a wing secured to the door and an aligned lower barrel with a wing secured to the door frame. A bolt rotatable in the lower barrel has a non-circular upper end fitting in a non-circular opening in the upper barrel and a lower stem portion of smaller diameter which extends to the lower end of the lower barrel and has in its lower end a central conical depression engaged by a pivot pin in the lower end of the lower barrel. At the upper end of the lower barrel there is a ball bearing between a threaded collar screwed into the upper end of the lower barrel and a washer on the bolt. A sleeve surrounding the bolt has inner pins slidably received in helical grooves in the bolt and outer pins slidably received in longitudinal grooves in the inner surface of the lower barrel so that when the door is swung from closed position toward open position the sleeve is moved upwardly against the force of a spring which tends to return the door to closed position. The lower barrel is filled with oil which acts hydraulically to control the rate of closing.
Abstract:
A motor driven window regulator combined with a door lock for a motor vehicle. A reversible motor is used to drive a sector gear. The sector gear in turn rotates a gear to pivot a lever to raise and lower the window. An engaging clutch pivoted to the free end of the lever is used to couple and decouple the mechanism to the window.
Abstract:
An actuating mechanism for sliding doors is intended to be installed in a van. A winch (44) is mounted inside of the van. A guide assembly (50) is installed in an aperture in the door frame. A cable (52) is connected to an arm added to the latch operating mechanism, and to the winch (44) for opening the door. A second cable (60) is attached to the rear edge of the door, and to the winch (44) for closing the door. A switch (102) connects an additional winding on an electric motor (138) to provide a high force for latching the door, allowing the use of a low and noninjurious force for closing the door. A control circuit is provided which allows a keyless closing switch to be used, subsequent operation of the switch having no effect on the motor.
Abstract:
A winch for use with a van door opening system having separate opening and closing cables includes a two-section drum mounted on a common, motor-driven shaft. A helical spring is interposed between each drum section and the shaft, for compensating for differential extension of the opening and closing cables and for maintaining tension in the opening and closing cables. A driver is affixed to the shaft, and cooperates with a stop on the interior surface of each drum section, for providing a positive driving force for opening the door, and for closing the door. In operation, rotation of the shaft stores energy in the appropriate spring before the driver contacts a stop to provide a positive driving force, so that cable tension will be maintained when the motor-driven shaft is de-energized.
Abstract:
A gate opening and closing apparatus for shifting a gate hingedly mounted on one of its sides so that an opposite side thereof can be moved to a closed position with respect to a stationary structure or to an open position with respect to this stationary structure. The apparatus comprises a shiftable member as for example, a plate which is mounted on the gate and is shiftable with respect to the side being hinged and the side thereof being located proximate the stationary member when in the closed position. A rod mechanism which is preferably comprised of a plurality of rods is operatively connected to a source of power, as for example, an electric motor, and this rod mechanism is also connected to the shiftable plate. When the motor is energized, the rod mechanism causes the gate to shift, either from an open position to a closed position, or otherwise, from a closed position to an open position. When the rod mechanism shifts the gate to the closed position a locking rod which is operatively connected to the shiftable plate is movable toward the stationary structure and engages a cooperating element so as to lock the gate when in the closed position. The locking rod is moved to the retracted or unlocked position just before the gate starts to move from the closed position to the open position.
Abstract:
A sliding door of the type employed in public transport vehicles and driven by an electric motor comprises at least one door-leaf coupled with a nut mounted on an endless screw which is driven in rotation in order to open and/or close the door. The nut is displaced in translational motion within a guide which prevents rotational motion. The locking device comprises means for interrupting the translational displacement of the guided nut at the end of travel and for permitting angular rotation of the nut with the endless screw, means for limiting the angular displacement of the nut and finally means for limiting the translational motion of the nut if it is displaced along the endless screw and no longer engaged in the guide.
Abstract:
A remote controller for remotely controlling the opening position of a hinged window of a vehicle, which comprises a flexible cable with one end operatively connected to a free end portion of the window, a cable guide member for guiding the cable, an operating device connected to the cable to longitudinally move the same causing opening and closing movements of the window when operated, and a one-way braking mechanism for braking the longitudinal movements of said cable induced by the opening and closing movements of the window while freely permitting the movements of the cable via the operation of the operating device.
Abstract:
A lock and safety release for power operated doors of the type in which the door is normally connected to a door operator for movement thereby, and in which the connection of the door to the door operator can be released to enable manual movement of the door. The lock and safety release includes inner and outer emergency release handles at opposite sides of the door which are selectively operable to disconnect the door from the door operator, and a lock mechanism for locking the outer emergency handle to prevent its operation to disconnect the door from the door operator and to also disable the door operator to prevent powered movement of the door by the door operator. The inner release handle remains operative to disconnect the door from the door operator to enable manual operation of the door when the outer handle is locked and the power operator is disabled.
Abstract:
Mechanism for driving a pair of doors through compound movement between open and closed positions wherein an inside semi-plug action is defined by moving the doors along guide tracks. An obstruction sensor may be provided in the drive linkage for recycling the door operation when an obstruction is encountered by the door.
