Abstract: A method of assembling a connector for automotive applications, comprising the steps of: providing a cable having at least one inner conductor; connecting an elongated inner signal contact of the connector to a stripped end of the at least one inner conductor; surrounding the elongated inner signal contact by an insulating element; placing a first shielding part of the connector around a first portion of the insulating element from a first radial direction; placing a second shielding part of the connector around a second portion of the insulating element from a second radial direction generally opposite to the first radial direction; and joining the first and second shielding parts to form a shielding contact of the connector surrounding the insulating element.

Abstract: A cable assembly includes coaxially arranged inner and outer barrels. The outer barrel overlaps a portion of the inner barrel. The inner and outer barrels respectively include first and second features that cooperate with one another to form a retention feature. The cable assembly has a cable that has at least one wire surrounded by an inner insulator that is covered in a metallic shield. The metallic shield is arranged in between the inner and outer barrels. The first feature is arranged beneath the metallic shield, and the second feature is arranged over the metallic shield. At least one of the first and second features extends in a radial direction relative to the other of the first and second features to capture the metallic shield with the retention feature.

Abstract: A method is provided for determining a mobility status of a target object located in an environment of a sensor configured to monitor a surrounding environment of a vehicle. According to the method, a detection angle of the target object is determined with respect to the sensor based on data acquired by the sensor, and an ideal beam vector for a stationary object is predicted based on the detection angle. The ideal beam vector and a measured beam vector obtained from the data acquired by the sensor are normalized, and a correlation of the normalized ideal beam vector and the normalized measured beam vector is determined. A score is determined based on the correlation of the normalized ideal and measured beam vectors and indicates whether the target object is stationary or moving.

Abstract: This document describes a waveguide with radiation slots and parasitic elements for asymmetrical coverage. An apparatus may include a waveguide for providing asymmetrical coverage in an azimuth plane. The waveguide includes a hollow channel containing a dielectric and an array of radiation slots through a surface that is operably connected with the dielectric. The waveguide includes an array of parasitic elements positioned on or in the surface and offset from a longitudinal side of the array of radiation slots. The radiation slots and parasitic elements configure the described waveguide to focus an antenna radiation pattern that provides an asymmetrical coverage to focus on a particular portion within the antenna field-of-view.

Abstract: This document describes a pedestrian alert system that can draw a driver's attention to a pedestrian on or near a roadway. The described pedestrian alert system can help prevent collisions with pedestrians and other objects in poor visibility environments or when drivers may be distracted. For example, a system can determine a presence of an object in or near a travel path of a host vehicle. The system can also determine the object's position relative to the host vehicle and control a light bar to provide an indication of the object. The indication can have specific characteristics to indicate the object's position relative to the host vehicle. In this way, the described pedestrian alert system can utilize sensors to focus a driver's attention on an object before a potential crash occurs and reduce the number of traffic-related deaths.

The inter-service management system may comprise memory and a controller configured to perform the inter-service communication management. In aspects, a configuration file may be used to obtain information specifying a first inter-service communication mechanism for communicating one or more messages between the client-side and server-side services. The inter-service communication management system may instantiate a stub associated with the inter-service communication mechanism information, which can be used to communicate a message from the server-side service to a proxy that interacts with the client-side service. The message may then be forwarded from the proxy to the client-side service to enable inter-service communication between the server-side service and the client-side service.

Abstract: A detection system includes a radar-unit and a controller-circuit. The radar-unit is configured to detect objects proximate a host-vehicle. The controller-circuit is in communication with the radar-unit and is configured to determine a detection-distribution based on the radar-unit. The detection-distribution is characterized by a longitudinal-distribution of zero-range-rate detections associated with a trailer towed by the host-vehicle. The controller-circuit is further configured to determine a trailer-classification based on a comparison of the detection-distribution and longitudinal-distribution-models stored in the controller-circuit. The trailer-classification is indicative of a dimension of the trailer. The controller-circuit determines a trailer-length of the trailer based on the detection-distribution and the trailer-classification.
