    摘要: A combination seal is attached to a bearing comprising a fixed element and a rotating element which rotate relative to each other, so as to seal an inner side and an outer side of the bearing. The combination seal is comprised of a seal ring and a slinger. The seal ring is comprised of a reinforcing ring and an elastic seal supported by the reinforcing ring. A leading end side of the elastic seal, supported by the reinforcing ring extending toward the slinger, is brought into contact with a surface of the slinger, which is opposite to the seal ring, when the combination seal is attached to the bearing. During a combining work process, when combining the seal ring and the slinger to form the combination seal, a seal lip does not turn over and the seal lip can be held toward a predetermined direction without using a specific jig during the combining work process and without being particularly careful during performance of the combining work process.

    摘要: An encoder-equipped sealing device includes two seal members arranged to face opposite each other and each having a reinforcing ring with an L-shaped cross section. Each of the reinforcing rings has a cylindrical portion and a flange portion extending from one end of the cylindrical portion in a direction perpendicular to the cylindrical portion. One seal member includes an elastic seal formed in such a manner as to be supported by the reinforcing ring of this seal member, with the elastic seal extending toward the other seal member such that a seal portion is formed between the elastic seal and the other seal member. The other seal member includes an encoder on a side of the flange portion of the other seal member that is opposite a side facing the one seal member. The one seal member includes an elastic element formed in such a manner as to be supported by the flange portion of this seal member. The elastic element is formed on a side of the flange portion of the one seal member that is opposite a side facing the other seal member.

    摘要: An exposure apparatus for exposing a plate-like member to a pattern with radiation in a step-and-repeat manner thereby to transfer images of the pattern onto different regions on a surface of the plate-like member. The apparatus includes an X-Y stage for moving the plate-like member in X and Y directions, a .theta.-stage for moving the plate-like member in a .theta. (rotational) direction relative to the X-Y stage, and laser interferometers for measuring an amount of movement of the plate-like member, by the X-Y stage, in each of the X and Y directions by use of a mirror mounted on the .theta.-stage. Placement of the mirror on the .theta.-stage allows correction of yawing if it occurs during movement of the plate-like member by X-Y stage. Also, deviation of the plate-like member in the Y direction if it occurs during movement of the plate-like member by the X-Y stage in the X direction, is detected by the laser interferometers. This allows detection of a positional error of the mirror in the .theta. direction and allows correction of the .theta.-error by the .theta.-stage.
