Abstract:
The present invention provides a matrix comprising an array of nanostructures that exhibit a variation (gradient) in physical properties (such as size or pitch) in at least one direction of the plane containing said array. A method for forming an array having a gradient property is also provided. In addition, a separation method is provided comprising the steps of: providing a matrix comprising an array of nanostructures arranged so that the array has the property of a gradient; and conducting at least one biomolecule separation process to separate biomolecules in a composition containing a plurality of biomolecules using the matrix.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of inhibiting matrix metalloproteinases using compounds that are dibenzofuran sulfonamide derivatives having the Formula I More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of treating diseases in which matrix metalloproteinases are involved such as multiple sclerosis, atherosclerotic plaque rupture, restenosis, aortic aneurism, heart failure, periodontal disease, corneal ulceration, burns, decubital ulcers, chronic ulcers or wounds, cancer metastasis, tumor angiogenesis, arthritis, or other autoimmune or inflammatory diseases dependent upon tissue invasion by leukocytes.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A collapsible spa unit is disclosed including a base and a peripheral wall mounted to and extending above the base. The wall includes a plurality of discrete panels that are releasably interconnected to define an enclosed area. There is a liner that extends across an upper surface of the base and across an inside surface of each panel for holding water within the enclosed area. A conduit having jets is formed through the peripheral wall and the liner for conducting water into the enclosed area of the spa. A suction line is formed through the peripheral wall in the liner for discharging water out of the enclosed area. A pump located outside of the panels, and communicably interconnected with the conduit and suction line, draws water out of the enclosed area through the suction and reintroduces water into the enclosed area through the conduit.

Abstract:
A head gasket comprising a laminate, metallic core and fiber-elastomer facing layers on each major surface of the core and defining a plurality of combustion openings, oil and water holes and bolt holes. A thin shim is disposed on one of the facing layers. The shim has arcuate elements lying adjacent to each of a pair of adjacent combustion openings. U-shaped armors at each combustion opening have legs overlapping the edges of the facing layers and portions of the shim elements adjacent to the edges of the combustion openings, with the shim elements extending radially outwardly beyond the armor legs. When the armors, shim and facing layer are precompressed after assembly and during the manufacturing process, the facing layer is densified through a reduction in thickness under the armor, is greatly densified under the armor and shim through a reduction in thickness by approximately the thickness of the shim, and densified in proportion to the shim thickness where the shim elements extend radially outwardly beyond the legs. The gasket is substantially unreduced in thickness radially beyond the shim and armor.
