Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to systems, methods, and apparatus for hierarchical control of utility-scale, inverter-based generation for mitigation of generation variability and responsive provisions of ancillary services. Such systems may include one or more processors, computer-readable media, and executable instructions which, if executed at the processors, configure the system to determine, at a first control layer, an inverter maximum power potential for a set of inverters, to determine, at the second control layer, an initial combined power output associated with the set of inverters and to determine a power support level and to transmit, from the second control layer to a third control layer, an indication of the power support level. The executable instructions may also configure the system to determine a first net power request, and to transmit, from the third control layer to the second control layer, an indication of the first net power request.

Abstract: Disclosed are cellulose-based flexible gels containing cellulose nanorods, ribbons, fibers, and the like, and cellulose-enabled inorganic or polymeric composites, wherein the gels have tunable optical, heat transfer, and stiffness properties. The disclosed gels are in the form of hydrogels, organogels, liquid-crystal (LC) gels, and aerogels. Further disclosed are highly transparent and flexible cellulose nanofiber-polysiloxane composite aerogels featuring enhanced mechanical robustness, tunable optical anisotropy, and low thermal conductivity. Further disclosed are gels comprising cellulosic material derived from bacteria and processes for preparing bacterial cellulose gels and methods of use.

Abstract: The invention described herein includes a novel platform for the development of novel shapeshifting drug-like compounds that overcome physical mass limitations as they possess the ability to interconvert internally and spontaneously, i.e., shapeshift, between multiple chemical structures with varying pharmacophore properties. In one preferred embodiment, the invention include systems, methods, and compositions for the synthesis of novel bullvalene amino acid (Bvas) compounds that may further be incorporated into Shape Shifting Cyclic Peptides (SSCP) with varying pharmacophore properties and their use as novel therapeutic compounds.

Abstract: Peptide-based therapies for a retinal disease, injury, or condition in a subject involve administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition containing at least one peptide derived from a heat shock protein, including Hsp20 and αB-crystallin. The administered peptides may be acetylated and/or conjugated to a cell-penetrating peptide. Administration of the peptides may reduce or prevent the loss of at least one retinal cell type, including retinal ganglion cells and retinal endothelial cells. The loss of such cells causes retinal damage and loss of eyesight in patients afflicted with an ocular condition. The pharmaceutical compositions may be administered intravitreally using an administration device. A single injection may be therapeutically sufficient for treating various ocular conditions.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for novel compositions and methods for making and using a thermally stable human papilloma virus (HPV) formulation or other stabilized multimeric virus formulation. Certain embodiments concern lyophilizing HPV formulations in the presence or absence of adjuvants. Other embodiments concern lyophilizing HPV capsomere vaccines in order to increase stability of an immunogenic composition against HPV infection for storage, delivery and use. In yet other embodiments, a single immunogenic composition can include a thermally stable formulation of multiple virus serotypes. Yet other embodiments disclosed herein concern multi-targeted antigen complexes lyophilized in formulations of use to prolong stability and/or enhance immunogenicity. Other embodiments concern exposing lyophilized multi-targeted antigen complexes to elevated temperatures to enhance immunogenicity of the antigens of the complex to multiple pathogens.
