摘要: The present invention relates to water soluble chiral sulfonated 2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl and its use as organometallic catalysts for asymmetric synthesis of optically active compounds. Asymmetric reactions of the present invention include those reactions in which organometallic catalysts are commonly used. Such reactions include, but are not limited to, reduction and isomerization reactions on unsaturated substrates and carbon--carbon bond forming reactions. Examples of such reactions include, but are not limited to, hydrogenation, hydroboration, hydrosilylation, hydride reduction, hydroformylation, alkylation, allylic alkylation, arylation, alkenylation, epoxidation, hydrocyanation, disilylation, cyclization and isomerization reactions. The catalysts of the present invention provide the advantage of functioning in the presence of water without loss in enantioselectivity relative to the nonsulfonated BINAP catalyst in an organic solvent. As a result, the catalysts of the present invention may be employed in water, water miscible solvents, in aqueous--organic two phase solvent systems and in supported aqueous phase catalysts in organic solvents without loss in enantioselectivity. Further, the catalysts of the present invention may also be effectively employed in highly polar solvents such as primary alcohols and ethylene glycol. The present invention also relates to a method for conducting asymmetric reactions on prochiral unsaturated bonds contained within a compound using the water soluble chiral sulfonated 2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl organometallic catalysts of the present invention.

摘要: A method and apparatus for updating an application to conform to unique requirements of a specific locale. The update involves language translation, graphic substitution, and interface element reorientation. For example, the text used in labels, titles, and messages depends upon the selected language. Its direction and orientation may affect the placement and orientation of a menu, menubar, title, scrollbar, or toolbar. Similarly, the selection of icons and other graphical symbols may be culturally dependent. Once localized, user interface elements are stored in a disk dictionary. A disk dictionary is an object that, when given a key, returns a value after reading it in from disk. This disk dictionary is managed by an object called an archive. An archive is responsible for putting together the individual user interface elements that make up a particular presentation.

In one embodiment, the second oxide may comprise mixtures of boron oxide with one or more of aluminum oxide, gallium oxide, iron oxide, titanium oxide and vanadium oxide. Also disclosed is a method for making CIT-1 zeolites comprising the preparation of an aqueous mixture containing sources of a N,N,N-trimethyl cis-myrtanyl ammonium ion, boron oxide or mixtures of boron oxide with one or more of aluminum oxide, gallium oxide, iron oxide, titanium oxide and vanadium oxide, and an oxide selected from silicon oxide, germanium oxide, and mixtures thereof. The mixture is maintained under sufficient crystallization conditions, preferably at a temperature of at least 100.degree. C., in an autoclave and under autogenous pressure until the crystals of the zeolite are formed.

摘要: A method and system for automatically selecting a font so that a user sees the characters and fonts expected to appear in a document. The preferred embodiment of the invention employs a first process when a character, or string of characters, is entered into a text stream. If the character is missing from the font specified in the current typing style, the process selects a font that can display the character. For example, if the code for a ".SIGMA." is inserted before "n/2" the process would automatically style the code with a font that could display the ".SIGMA.". Styling a character means that the character will always have a font style associated with the character.

摘要: The present invention is directed generally to a layered polymeric monofilament fiber drug delivery device, where each layer of the device can contain a different polymer, drug, additive, or any combination or mixture thereof. The layered nature of the current monofilament polymeric monofilament device provides the capability to modulate the release of one or more drugs and/or the mechanical properties of the fiber so that drug release and device failure can be separately tuned to provide for the tailored introduction of therapeutically effective drugs or agents to a target tissue. Moreover, the fiber may comprise more than one distinct segments along its length, each segment itself having different combinations and/or numbers of layers thereby providing even greater freedom in the design of the therapeutic delivery device. The invention is also directed to a method of manufacturing such a layered polymeric monofilament fiber drug delivery device, and methods of treatment using such devices.

摘要: The invention provides a composition containing particulate composite of a polymer and a therapeutic agent. The composition also contains a complexing agent. The polymer interacts with the complexing agent in a host-guest or a guest-host interaction to form an inclusion complex. A therapeutic composition of the invention may be used to deliver the therapeutic agent and to treat various disorders. Both the polymer of the particulate composite and the complexing agent may be used to introduce functionality into the therapeutic composition. The invention also relates to a method of preparing a composition. The method combines a therapeutic agent, a polymer having host or guest functionality, and a complexing agent having guest or host functionality to form the therapeutic composition. The complexing agent forms an inclusion complex with the polymer. The invention also relates to a method of delivering a therapeutic agent. According to the method, a therapeutically effective amount of a therapeutic composition of the invention is administered to a mammal (e.g. person or animal) in recognized need of the therapeutic. Also disclosed are compounds having the formula:
