Abstract:
It has been impossible in prior art to copy every piece of data that is stored in a virtual volume. A management computer of this invention receives a copy request that designates a real storage area as a copy source, selects a virtual storage area that is associated with plural real storage areas as a copy destination virtual storage area, and judges whether or not a copy source virtual storage area and the copy destination virtual storage area are allocated to real storage areas. Based on a result of the judging, the management computer gives an instruction to copy data that is stored in the copy source real storage area to a copy destination real storage area, and keeps information about a replication relation between the copy source real storage area and the copy destination real storage area on which the data copy has been performed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a high-performance storage access environment to a user who moves around a wide area, while increasing the fault resistance of the system. A plurality of network storages (volumes) is assigned to the user. Then, at the occasion of logging in to a volume by the user, the volume that can be accessed with high performance from a position he made access is located. Addresses at a computer with which user makes access are associated with addresses of the volumes provided by a storage device in advance in an assigned volume management table so as to increase access performance. Then, a management server performs control so that the address of the volume associated with the user access position is returned as a response, at the time of logging in.

Abstract:
A management apparatus, a management method, and a storage management system that more specifically manage power consumption, making it easy to analyze problems relating to power consumption or properly relocate data are provided.A power consumption for each of a plurality of memory apparatus groups each consisting of a plurality of memory apparatuses in a storage system is computed based on a performance for each of a plurality of logical storage extents defined in a plurality of storage extents provided by each of the memory apparatus groups, and a value of the power consumption for each of one or more of the memory apparatus groups obtained by the computation is output together with information on an access status of each of the corresponding logical storage extents.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device made by mounting a light emitting element on a substrate, where an optically-transparent cover with a flat plate shape is installed on the light emitting element and a groove part for suppressing reflection of light emission of the light emitting element is formed in the cover.
Abstract:
Provided is a computer system including a first storage subsystem and a second storage subsystem. The first storage subsystem has a first storage unit and a first control unit. The second storage subsystem has a second storage unit and a second control unit. The first control unit records journals, and identifies, when data stored in the first storage unit is to be migrated to the second storage unit, which ones of the recorded journals are related to the data that is to be migrated. The first control unit chooses the identified journals one at a time in reverse chronological order, and judges whether or not the chosen journal corresponds to a data update made at some point between a current time and a time that precedes the current time by a length of a journal retention term set for the second storage subsystem.
Abstract:
A light emitting device housing having a concave part is provided therein for housing a light emitting device. Side surfaces of the concave part are each configured to be a perpendicular surface that is substantially perpendicular to a bottom surface of the concave part, and other side surfaces are each configured to be an inclined surface for reflecting light from the light emitting device toward above the light emitting device.
Abstract:
A first storage system includes a first storage area for storing data written by a computer. A second storage system includes a second storage area to which the data stored in the first storage area migrates. A third storage system includes a virtual storage area corresponding to the second storage area. An access request to the virtual storage area is converted into an access request to the second storage area to be issued. A management computer transmits, to the third storage system, an instruction to migrate the data of the second storage area to a third storage area of the third storage system based on a determination result between a value of the data migrated to the second storage area and a predetermined threshold value.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device includes a laminated substrate formed by laminating a plurality of semiconductor substrates, a concave part formed in the laminated substrate, and a semiconductor element mounted in the concave part. A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device includes a first step of forming a laminated substrate by laminating a plurality of semiconductor substrates, a second step of forming a concave part by etching the laminated substrate, and a third step of mounting a semiconductor element in the concave part.
Abstract:
The computer system having a storage subsystem for storing data in a logical storage extent created in a physical storage device constituted of a physical storage medium, a host computer for reading/writing data from/to the logical storage extent via a network, and a management computer for managing the storage subsystem. The management computer records components of the storage subsystem, a connection relation between the components included in a network path, a correlation between the logical storage extent and the components, and a load of each component, specifies components included in a leading path from an interface through which the storage subsystem is connected with the network to the physical storage medium, measures loads of the specified components to improve performance.
