    摘要: The invention provides a catheter for ice mapping and ablation and a method of ablation using the catheter. The catheter includes at least two lumens for circulating a refrigerating fluid adjacent an ablation device located at the end of a catheter. The refrigerated ablation device is used to chill a localized region of myocardial tissue, thereby permitting the resulting change in electrical activity to be determined. In response to the test results, the ablation device may be used to make a lesion in the myocardial tissue to correct a cardiac arrhythmia. In one embodiment, the ablation device is an electrode which uses radio frequency energy to ablate the myocardial tissue. Alternatively, the ablation device is an electrode adapted for direct current ablation. In another embodiment, the electrode is replaced with an optical fiber in communication with a laser which uses the laser's light energy to ablate tissue. Yet another embodiment is a cryogenic catheter, useful for cooling tissue for other applications, for use as combined or separate mapping and ablation devices, or for use with the ice mapping and ablation means of the present invention. The embodiments may include provisions for steering the catheter and for stabilizing the ablation device at the proposed lesion site.

    摘要: A method of preparing a cryo-surgical system for treatment includes accessing a container containing a refrigerant, a delivery tube having a first end configured to be in flow communication with the container and a second end opposite the first end. The system further includes a plurality of flexible finger portions disposed proximate the second end of the delivery tube opposite the first end. A porous applicator bud is disposed proximate the second end of the delivery tube. The porous applicator bud includes a body portion disposed between the plurality of flexible finger portions and a contact surface extending from the plurality of flexible finger portions. An adjustment ring disposed along the delivery tube adjacent to the plurality of flexible finger portions can be used to adjust the size of the contact surface of the porous applicator bud.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a treatment device utilized in the freezing treatment method and its treatment planning device, and has an object to settle a freezing period·defrosting period according to a size of a treatment portion.A cryotherapy device comprises a gas supply-exhaust system 100, a control system 200 therefore and a freezing probe system 300. The gas supply-exhaust system 100 supplies a freezing gas and a defrosting gas to a probe 60 of the freezing probe system 300 to freeze and defrost the treatment portion surrounding the tip of the probe 60 by the Joule·Thomson effect. The control system 200 controls the gas supply-exhaust system 100 and makes treatment planning data for this control. The treatment planning data includes a freezing·defrosting sequence to determine the freezing period and the defrosting period. The determination of this sequence is performed by the computer in the control system 200. Further, this sequence is determined corresponding to the focus treatment size according to the freezing·defrosting characteristics of the tissue.

The catheter includes a guide tube, a coolant transfer tube, and at least one coolant outtake region that each extend along the catheter. The guide tube and the coolant transfer tube extend beyond the distal portion of the catheter. The coolant transfer tube includes a coiled distal that wraps around a portion of the guide tube and defines a plurality of spaced-apart spray apertures. The coolant transfer tube defines a lumen configured and arranged to receive and transfer coolant from a coolant source to the spray apertures. The expansion element is in fluid communication with the at least one coolant outtake region and the plurality of spray apertures.
